Then again, this may be a pretty fair contest. What will make this interesting is the swing from teams that initially voted for a team other than Houston or Chicago. Judging by the fact that they decided to have an additional contest rather than acknowledge their accident and use the votes in the overall result, I smell poo.

Well, we need to make sure to account for as many votes as possible.

I'll keep tabs on the votes I turn in. We need to keep tabs on votes here as well.

Stay tuned. I should know more in the morning.

Ok...looks like voting remains the same. Voting ends at noon Friday. It was a front page article in today's sport section, but they still haven't put it up online. I'm guessing they are trying to keep "others" from finding out.

They admit that our "missing" votes would have put the Cubs ahead. The called them "hanging chads."

The quoted Cubfan and Confused Reader from the story chat. They claim the sports editor didn't get the packet until Monday morning, but promise better keeping up with turned in votes this time.

It's time to get busy.

Cubs for Monroe 2007. Let's get busy!!!!

I'm going to vote for the Pirates anyway! :-)

Just kidding, I voted for the Cubs. It's the only time I'll ever root for the Cubs! :-)

Thanks guys! Keep those votes coming!

Is there a limit to the number of votes from the same email address?

Just once per email. In fact, I'm pretty sure if they think the emails are dubious, they throw them out. Let's not give them any reason to throw this to the Astros. If you have multiple emails that don't look the same, by alll means vote more than once, but only once per email.

If you have a friend or two that would vote for the hell of it, feel free to join the voter registration drive.

My votes in Vance. I informed them that i was an avid online reader sent updates from a friend who lived in the area. Good luck from this side of the pond!! :D

Be careful. With that story, you're likely to get quoted in Sunday's edition. :D

I'll vote from home tonight as well then. My husband and I have different email addresses at home so can use his as well. And I'll see what I can do to get others to vote - although I live in Cardinal country - not sure who I can find who will want to help the Cubs in anything!

Maybe they just don't like the Astros.... :D

News-Star managing editor Ken Stickney found the packet of Cubs votes late Friday afternoon in the paper’s front offices, and brought it back to the newsroom. Sports editor Nick Deriso had already taken the other submitted votes out of the office, meaning the packet then sat on his desk until it was discovered Monday morning.

What kind of sports editor doesn't come in on the weekend, or is out of the office by Friday afternoon while school is in session? I've never met one.

During the Elite 8, no less.

I just found another old email address that I forgot I had...... so I sent in another vote. Got a friend to do the same.

Remember...... vote early, and vote often !!!

edit: my friend voted twice, as did her husband and her son.

This is Chicago, shouldn't we be casting ballots from the cemetary as well?
