I think we're going to see this lineup a lot this season. Murton is a great choice for the number two spot and he's a better defender than Floyd. Also, every time I see Izturis in the 8th spot I'm reminded that Dusty Baker is no longer the manager of the Chicago Cubs!

First, meaningless stat of the day--

 

Chicago is hitting .309 (17-for-55) with runners in scoring position over their last four games … they’ve limited opponents to a .279 batting average with RISP (12-for-43) in that same span.

 

In 2006, the Cubs limited opponents to a .261 batting average with RISP, fifth-lowest in the NL.

 

Derrek Lee leads the club with a .467 batting average (min. 25 AB) and has reached base safely in nine of 10 games played this season.

 

Jacque Jones and Matt Murton lead the Cubs with nine RBI apiece while Murton’s three long balls lead the club.

 

This is encouraging...

 

The Cubs have stolen 19 bases this spring, and have been caught just twice … the 19 stolen bases rank tied for second with Atlanta, as Colorado leads the Senior Circuit with 25 steals.

 

The Cubs’ .905 success rate in stolen bases (19-for-21) leads the Majors … the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are second with an .888 success rate (32-for-36).

 

And it looks like Gallagher is getting a start on Monday...
