I'd say this is shocking, but it really isn't.

How perfectly everything has worked is, I think. I expected us to play well, but so far we've absolutely dominated and controlled the tempo completely.

I'm surprised about that.

it's pretty easy to dominate a game when you're shooting 61% from 3...excellent shooting thus far from the vols.

I love the media, until now, I hadn't heard much about SoIll being a "mid-major," but now that they've lost, they arn't anything but a "scrappy mid-major" according to ESPN.

ESPN blows. I don't know how we can still be considered a mid-major after 6 straight tournament appearances, 2 Sweet 16 appearances, close to a 3rd Sweet 16 apperance a few years ago, and close to an Elite 8 apperance tonight. We've landed the two best recruiting class that we've ever seen for the next two years and if we can keep Lowery, I have all the faith in the world that Sweet 16 apperances should be the norm.

I know I'm biased, but we've passed Gonzaga as the best non-BCS school.

Very good point, I just didn't expect us to drain the threes this way.

Memphis?

ETA: Your point still stands, SIU can't be considered a scrappy mid-major, especially if Lowery stays.

True, true. :D

Yeah, I forgot to add Memphis. Memphis and SIU are by far the best non-BCS programs in the NCAA.

And some good news..Tony Young appears to be set on staying in C'Dale and accepting a position as a grad coach. He's got a great basketball mind and probably the best defender I think I've seen in quite some time. Nice to see our guys maintain the faith and the pride in the program, even when their eligibility runs out.

scrappy? no. mid-major? yes. "mid-major" has nothing to do with how well you play and everything to do with what conference you play in. As long as SIU plays in, what, the MVC? (seriously, I don't remember), they'll be a mid-major. Conversely, PSU and NWU will always be "power conference" teams no matter how much they suck

Well, hopefully OSU can come out strong in the second half. Tennessee just HAS to cool off...right?

Hope not. The threes probably won't fall this well the rest of the way, but what's really killing OSU is the tempo. That will stay that way until the Buckeyes impose their will.

I, personally, am thrilled with a 17-point lead at halftime. No reason at this point not to hold on. If we don't win this game, we have no one to blame but ourselves. But man, this is a great situation to be in. :D

how does UCLA get to play it's first 4 games in California? How is that fair?

Oh wait, I have them going to the finals in my bracket. Nevermind

We did that last year too (San Diego, Oakland). It helps that it's a really big state.

true. LA to Sacramento is, what, an 8 hour drive? Still, you know there are Bruin Alum all over the state, so these are clearly home games for UCLA

it always seems like the #2 seeds actually play in their home region more than the #1's done

Yeah - the Bay Area has the second largest population of Bruin alums and Sacramento has a sizable chunk (and is less than 2 hours from the Bay).
