Pie to start season in center?

I think I actually read this somewhere. Did anybody read or hear about this? I guess he is looking okay in ST, but I don't see how he ends up starting for us with all the OFs we currently have.

Not a chance. The Cubs have come out and said that he will not make the club out of ST.

Why do we care if they are unhappy? The more talented players should play. Which means for the moment Pie should sit.

He needs more work at the plate before I'll agree with that statement. Yes, he's hitting well in ST but with a young guy he needs many more reps.

 

I'm on board with him starting the season @ Iowa. All things to those who wait: it won't be long before we see Pie @ Wrigley.

We are only a little over a week into spring training games, so it is not really significant who has showed more talent this spring. If the roster was determined based upon Spring Training so far Buck Coats would be a shoo in to start in the OF.

 

Lou has been very straightforward in regard to the roster spots this year (something I don't remember in the past). Instead of stringing Pie along, he told him that barring an injury he would start the year in the minors. Pie will have plenty of time to work on his offense and be prepared for his chance. I can't wait to see him with the Cubs to stay.
