Don't some posters realize the hypocrisy in their statements where they tell others to not get excited about and judge a player based on his best year, and yet turn around and rip Marquis apart mostly because of his horrible year last year? Aside from a rather high WHIP, he pitched pretty well in 2004 and 2005.

 

so basically, other than being easy to hit he was pretty good?

 

also, he sucked hard in 2002 and 2003.

I've been drinking lots of blue koolaid, and I believe that Rothschild found a glitch in Marquis' delivery, and Jason will win 15 games this year with a 3.85 ERA.

It's not about how many hits you give up. It's about how many runs you give up. While his pitching style will give up more hits than I'm sure we would all like, it will also induce more double plays. I agree that his WHIP and BAA are higher than I would like to see, but his propensity to induce double plays partially offsets those negatives.

by the way, it doesn't matter whether i "give him a chance" or not. me sitting here at my computer and thinking about how bad marquis is going to be is not likely to have an effect on his performance.

I think Marquis will put up better numbers this year than last. As far as how much better he will be this year, that remains to be seen. I'll take a guess though..4.40 ERA for the season.
