That is absolutely horrible.

 

It's in-line with what's been going on in MLB. Teams are paying for IP more than anything else. Vasquez is probably good for about 200 average innings a year. I think he compares favorably to some guys who got more than him.

 

Yeah, I don't see how it's any different from the contracts that guys like Meche and Lilly got.

 

I agree completely but it's funny considering the Sox have been yapping all offseason about how bad those contracts were...

My friend isn't too upset about the Sox-Vazquez deal because it basically means Buehrle is gone after this year and he loves that.
