I have played fantasy baseball a few times and have always pretty much sucked at it. This time I actually put some time into ranking players.

It's from a Yahoo, 5x5, 12 team, auto draft league.

I'm currently trying to get Stephen Drew off of waivers to replace Crosby.

I don't seem to have many/any stolen bases. And I'm not sure of the status of Papelbon or James, I may not have any saves either?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty new to fantasy baseball too, but in my leagues I try to nab 1 good/great closer in the draft and pick up others during the season. Many of the saves-leaders each year weren't the designated closer for their team when the season started. It's a strategy that requires that you pay a little more attention to bullpens and usually I'll nab a guy before he becomes the closer (like Paps last year) to be sure I get him.

Depending on what closers didn't get drafted, you might be able to nab guys like Valverde or Torres now, just to be sure you have at least 1 closer, but I'd keep an eye on the Braves closer role (I think Wickman won't last long) and Rangers, in case Gagne goes down again, among others.

Thanks for the info. I know there are some teams out there that have question marks at the closer spot, but I wasn't sure which. I'll keep an eye on those teams/players you mentioned.

Also, since Foulke (I think?) retired, it looks like Borowski is gonna be the closer in Cleveland, and he's done very decently the past couple years.

I think you are in a good position to deal some of your pitching and OF/1B for steals and saves. In my 12 team league I try to draft a top tier closer , mid-tier closer, and then pick a third up on the waiver wire. I'm not sure if anyone is going to trade a top tier closer though. But you've got some stellar trading chips like Konerko and Lackey. You can afford to subtract them. Also you can pick up steals on the waiver wire. Its possible guys like BJ Upton and Willy Taveras haven't been drafted in your league...thats probably 100 steals right there.
