People say Bly struggled because of the Cover-2 scheme in Detroit, but I tell you this, I'd drop Vasher today if it meant getting Bly. He is still a player.

I don't think this is a bad move for the Lions... they grab a starting O-lineman and a solid backup RB. What's interesting is assuming that Foster will start at RT, and the Lions seem happy with Backus at LT (even though he's really overrated), it's less likely that they draft Joe Thomas now. It's probably more likely that they deal down and look for defensive help.

Okay I have this to say as a Bronco fan that has watched these two guys their entire young careers.

Foster is underachieving.

For 3 years the broncos gave him every opportunity to shine, and he underachieved at every chance until eventually he was put on the 2nd string to backup OT Adam Meadows, a guy who had been out of football for the entire 2005 season! Only when meadows got injured did he get back his starting role which he played very poorly in. I would not be excited about him if i was a lions fan, but he is probably better than what they have. If the lions don't draft Thomas because of this move, then Millen has made a very bad effort to solve the Lions Oline woes.

Bell is a good player, but from my estimation, he has a long way to go to be a solid every down back. I'm not sure how much of his success was from the system, but Bell was never able to be a feature back. He does fit the role that he will play in quite well though, as a change of pace guy for jones.

The Cowboys cut Bledsoe, Steelers cut Porter, and Saints cut Horn.

My nephew is upset. Horn was his favorite player on the Saints. After every game, Horn would take time to talk to the fans and sign autographs.

Here's a couple of pics of my nephew with Horn after practice at Traing Camp.

Maybe. Bly's 30 though. And I think he's shorter than Vasher. I'm like you though -- I think he can still bring it.

Jake Plummer has been traded from Denver to Tampa Bay for a 4th round pick.

It seems about the right pick for Plummer-but Tampa Bay? I don't think that's a great fit for him.

I guess that will end the Jeff Garcia signing with Tampa rumors.

Well according to the NFL Network, Plummer has retired in lieu of being traded to Tampa. So not only is there no deal, but those rumors of Garcia to Tampa are probably back on.

Well, that's an interesting wrinkle, isn't it?

I wonder why? TB isn't that bad of a team or area is it?

They had a massive crackdown at area strip clubs a few years ago, most notably world famous Mons Venus. Maybe he's never forgiven them.

Horn took a parting shot at the Saints on his way out.

“Right now it’s going around that (the Saints) wanted to restructure my contract and I asked to be released, but this has nothing to do with money,” Horn said. “I wanted to retire as a Saint. I’ve been through hell and back for that city and that organization. If I wanted out of New Orleans that bad, I would have just lkept my mouth shut and let them move the team to San Antonio.

“I just don’t think (head coach) Sean Payton wanted me back. I asked to be released because I felt betrayed by a head coach who wanted to prove he could win without Joe Horn.”

“When Sean Payton came here, I promised him I would be the best receiver, the strongest receiver and the best conditioned receiver in the league,” Horn said. “Even after I got hurt, I rehabbed every week, trying to come back.

“But even after the best orthopedic doctor in the country said I was ready to play and I practiced twice before the (NFC Championship game) against Chicago, he made the decision not to play me. That’s when I realized that New Orleans wasn’t going to be big enough for both Joe Horn and Sean Payton.”

So Jake needs a place to go to blow off some steam, eh?

I like Joe Horn and he's done a lot for that city, but I think he's wrong on this one. He's getting older and more injury prone, and the Saints have two good, relatively cheap receiving threats now. He just wasn't worth what they would've had to pay him.

I doubt Payton was thinking, "I have to get rid of Joe Horn so I can prove to everyone that I can win without him."

He's not upset about money-he's still upset about Payton holding him out of the NFC Championship game. I think it's still the coaches call on allowing injured players to play, but Horn has done so much for them that if he says he's ready to go I'm not sure that they shouldn't have just trusted him and at least go out there and try for a quarter.

Joe Horns said it was like this: "Sean Payton thinks Sean Payton has to get rid of Joe Horn to prove Sean Payton can win on Sean Paytons own."

If the coach thinks that the receiver isn't healthy enough to be as good as the team's other WR options, then he shouldn't put him in the lineup. You don't want to be experimenting to see if a guy is good to go in the NFC championship game. Plus, it'd be a guy with a balky groin, playing in cold weather on a terrible field. I wouldn't have felt too good putting him in that situation and feeling like he'd succeed.

I understand the sentiment, but Horn felt he was good enough to go out there and play. Horn also gave his heart and soul for that team. My guess is Horn felt he had earned the right to play in the biggest game ever played by the franchise. He was hurt and insulted by that. He may have a clouded view of what Payton was doing, but his hurt is understandable, especially if he felt he was physically able to play.

From Adam Schein at Foxsports...

Joe Horn is flapping his gums a bit too much in the aftermath of the Saints decision to let him go.

League sources have confirmed to us that Horn failed his latest physical with the Saints. Thus, cutting him was a no brainer. In fact, the Saints did want to keep him at a lower number for this year, but Horn refused. And that's strange on 2 fronts; Horn knows he failed his physical and he told Sirius NFL Radio when he signed his extension a few years ago that he knew he would never see the back end of the deal.

Cutting him was a no brainer by Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton.

Maybe it would be wise if Horn stopped trashing the Saints. His loose lips certainly won't be attractive to his next team. And neither will his questionable health.
