My favorite moment is when he went ape **** and went out there throwing his hat, his score-card, and shoutin down the throagt of the umpire. After that he said he was embarrassed, and never did it again. It's too bad, because teams need a manager to show some passion like that every now and again. .

I would think that there was enough Dusty bashing and mocking of his statements about "clogging the bases" etc when he was here that people could just move on and think about other things now that he is gone and no longer relevant to the Cubs...but I guess not.

Can't we just stick to the hilarious "Jock" Jones, Prior towel drill and Hendry fat jokes since they are at least about people still in the organization?

This section is called "Baseball Discussion" and Dusty is still involved in baseball in some facet... so he is fair game.

What Dusty did during his tenure still hurts the Cubs today.

Changing managers didn't undo all the mileage that Dusty put on young arms in 2003, for example.

I loved it when he screwed up the double switch and blew a gasket.

That's a moment that will haunt me forever. I was driving home listening to that game when it happened. I could only imagine what was going through his mind.

All those mentioned are awesome, but my fave is probably the shouting match he got in with Tony La Russa. Examples of that intensity were few and far between, but it sure was great to watch the boiling tensions of the storied Cubs/Cards rivalry manifested in its skippers.

That was truly great. About the only time I liked Dusty. We've improved our team by getting rid of that fool.

Man we are just starting to get some optimism, do we really need to bring up Dusty?

Well since we must...mentioning Dusty's Cub tenure can only be done properly if one other person is mentioned:

Speaking of NE!F!, he made two errors today in the Tiger ST opener.

"I'm the leader of this band," Baker said. "It's like having a new drummer, a new trombone player, new sax, new piano man every week. Your guitarist has a broken hand. Your sax player got his teeth knocked out. We've got some guys in here who aren't going to panic. I was talking to (Todd Walker) today, and (the Boston Red Sox) lost four in a row in September. The key is never panic."

That moment ranks among the most absolute hilarious moments of Dusty's tenure. It puts a smile on my face even now just thinking about it.

Here's a gem no one's mentioned yet:

"You can tell your uncle stuff that you could not tell your dad. That is kind of the role of an uncle. I feel very much like a father sometimes but sometimes I feel like a teammate.”

Whatever team it was that Enrique Wilson started against because he "knew the park" or whatever.
That was against the Yankees because he knew Yankee Stadium.

The fishing analogy. I'm so looking forward to his babble on Baseball Tonight. The guy is so out there it cracks me up as long as he's not managing my team.

That everything was a fishing analogy became my first clue that Dusty didn't have a whole lot going on upstairs... For those of you who have seen Anything Else (a recent Woody Allen flick), Dusty's overuse of that metaphor reminded me of Danny DeVito's suit analogies. For those of you who haven't seen it, just imagine the most slimey, slippery imp of a man routinely comparing everything to suits fabrics, suit stores, suit fitting, etc.

Time to move on folks. It appears we will have some good things to look fwd to this season.

What's so good about Perez starting and batting second? Oh God it feels good not to have to worry about that. A deep breath...a smile and it's time to move on to the 2007 season!
