Even though the NCAA tournament is a few weeks away, registration has started for Yahoo's Pick'em contest. I formed a group; the ID is 538 and the password is nsbb. Up to 50 people can join a group, so feel free to invite others.

Is each person only allowed one bracket?
I believe you can only have one entry per Yahoo ID, but if you have more than one e-mail address you can probably create a different Yahoo ID for each of them. There are other contests besides Yahoo; I believe ESPN, CBS Sportsline, and Sporting News have similar contests (although I don't think you can register for any of those yet), and you can always have different brackets in different contests.

It says each person can have 5 brackets on yahoo.

Or, you could be like me, have one bracket, and win almost every group you join! :D

(Ironically, of all the groups and pools I joined last year, the only two I didn't win were NSBB's Yahoo and Facebook pools.)

My interpretation of that was that you could participate in five leagues, not have five brackets in the same league. I could be wrong though.

EDIT: If you click on the "cool new features" link from the registration page it clearly states that you can only assign one bracket to each group. So you'd need to join five groups (any combination of public and private) to have five brackets.

Ah, that makes sense then. Thanks for the clarification.

In one of my brackets (not either of the NSBB ones) I have Albany over Arizona for the championship. Since you can have five brackets I decided just for fun to enter one where I pick the first team alphabetically to win each game. I may need to edit that one based on the results of the play-in game, because Florida A & M comes before Kansas alphabetically, but Niagara comes after.

For my serious brackets (the NSBB ones) i picked some upsets for one and went with the highest seeded teams all the way through for the other. That way I can see if I do better than the committee. :D

I joined, though I don't have much bball knowledge. We'll see how well I do.

Nevertheless, let the smack talking commence. I'm gonna wipe the floor with you guys!

In this group I'm 13-3 in the first round, tied for 7th (picked Duke, George Washington, and Texas Tech). In Derwood's group I'm also 13-3 but tied for 6th (picked Duke, Marquette, and BYU). And in Tim's group I'm 14-2, tied for 2nd (picked Davidson and Texas Tech). I correctly picked the Duke upset in that group.

I'm currently in 1st place in Tim's group (with 7 of the Elite 8), tied for 3rd in Derwood's (again with 7 of the Elite 8), but only tied for 20th in my own group (4 of the Elite 8). So much for home court advantage.

i think it's amazing that in a tournament where there haven't really been any big surprises, no one at all on yahoo is particularly close to a perfect bracket

Natural order has been restored to the world; I have taken over first place in my group. I'm also 2nd in Derwood's group and 6th in Tim's. If Ohio State wins Monday I win my group. If Florida wins I don't win any group but will finish 2nd in both Derwood's and Tim's groups. Not a bad situation, knowing that regardless of the outcome Monday night I'm guaranteed either one 1st place finish or two 2nd place finishes. \:D/
