Aramis leaves money on the table to stay with us and fans are turning against him less than a week into spring training?

Turning against him? Who's doing that?

He hasn't shown up early to spring training, and it immediately turns into "well he looked out of shape to me" and "he's not early? that's not impressing anyone".

It's useless garbage and it hasn't even been a week yet.

Can't comment on the out of shape thing cause I wasn't the one who said that, but what's so "garbage" about saying that he's not impressing anyone by being the only person who isn't early? Whether people want to acknowledge it or not, being the last person to arrive doesn't look good. Especially when all of your other teammates get there before they have to.

It's meaningless. Geez, Manny isn't showing up until March 1st. Think that will affect his hitting? ARam is here for 5 more years, don't sweat the silly stuff.

I said he looked out of shape. His face looked twice as big at his press conference on Comcastsportsnet. He may have lost the weight by now but that was my last impression of him.

so, what's going to happen if he didn't show up early? what is the actual cost in terms of team wins?

it means virtually nothing if he doesn't show up.

personally, i hope he routinely doesn't hustle to first yet continues his superior production numbers. no sense in re-injuring a groin muscle for absolutely nothing. if i'm the manager, i tell ramirez to take whatever time he needs to get around the bases, just so long as he keeps being one of my best hitters.

It's meaningless? Haha, showing up to work on time is meaningless? I wish my boss shared that sentiment!

This has gotten way off topic. I just wanted to know if all the other players had arrived.

maybe he would if you were as good at your job as aram is at his.

why do baseball players always have to be compared to regular people? it's not the same thing, folks! aram sleeps with many beautiful women on top of a huge mountain of money, i doubt your lives are comparable.

LOL, he's our best overall hitter and since they're testing now I hope he's clean.

ARam is not late. If he doesn't show up tomorrow, then he will be late.

He may have made arangements anyway. Just because Sullivan or whomever hasn't explicitly said so yet doesn't mean that Ramirez is skirting his repsonsibilities.

I know we're all dying to talk some baseball, but jesus christ.

Either way I don't really care. As long as he hits and is healthy.

People ragging on the guy because he's not early to camp is just silly.

Oh, I agree. I wasn't directing that at you, I was just piggybacking your post.

Most worthless tangent ever?

I have no idea why Aramis wanted to leave money on the table to come back to fans saying this kind of crap.

I know, and I never got any of it. Not when people were on his case for not running grounders out when everyone knew he had a bad quad/groin, and not now when people are riding him for not showing up early for camp after leaving a ton of money to come back.

It's stupid.

What kind of crap? Jesus Christ, it's as if people who question the diety that is Aramis Ramirez are completely idiotic for mentioning that it doesn't look good that he's the only one who doesn't show up early.

Am I saying that he's an ass for not showing up early? No. Am I saying that I like him less for not showing up early? No, in fact he's one of my favorite Cubs. Am I saying that it doesn't look good? Yes. And it doesn't. He signs a fat contract (at a discount, yes, but still fat) and he's the last to arrive to ST. That's not the way to win over the fans that got on him last year.

Aramis impressed me enough by leaving 40 mil on the table, he'd have to sit out til May without an excuse to bring himself back to breakeven in my book.

how does it look bad if he's not late, yet? that's the confusing thing about all of this.

and using your own "real-world" logic, if you're scheduled to work at 8am on monday, does it look bad if you show up at 8am on monday, what would you accomplish by showing up at 8am on sunday?

Just to be clear, published reports say today is the day position players must report. Tomorrow is the full workout.
