Ex-Cubs big part of Fox lineup

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver remain Fox's No. 1 team, with Grace, Girardi and Karros joining play-by-play broadcasters Thom Brennaman, Kenny Albert, Josh Lewin and Matt Vasgersian.

Girardi, who had an awkward split with the Marlins despite being named 2006 National League Manager of the Year in his first season on the job, also will rejoin the YES network for game and studio analysis of the New York Yankees.

Grace, who finished his 16-year playing career with 2,445 hits and a World Series title with Arizona, will also begin his fourth season as the TV analyst for the Diamondbacks.

Karros, who hit .286 for the 2003 Cubs, retired after playing for Oakland in 2004. He then provided analysis for Fox's playoff coverage in 2004 and joined ESPN the next season. Karros also works on a pregame show for the Los Angeles Dodgers, for whom he played in 1991-2002.

Don't expect Gracie to be nice when he does his first Cubs game...

I think things are healing. He did afterall, do the convention last month.

I think Grace's beef was more with MacPhail than anyone. Seeing as how it was Andy who was the GM when Grace left.

Can anyone explain this hate toward Grace? Was he doing some D'Backs broadcast and was hard on the Cubs?

Yes, yes he was.

He also was a dick about the cork incident with Sammy.

Grace is the epitomy of the know nothing, ex-jock broadcaster/color guy. And to make matters worse, he isn't even funny.

Sammy was asking for it though. I agree with some of your points there, but Sosa embarassed himself more by doing it, than grade did by poking fun at it.

I can't wait for the first Josh Lewin/Eric Karros game or Girardi doing a game with anyone. Yuck.

It will be better than listening to

Joe Buck: OMG OMG OMG THERE HE IS, Albert Pujols, You know tim there is a rumor going around that he is a desendant of Babe Ruth. he is the best baseball player EVAR

Tim: YOu know joe, i heard that too and i think that could possibly be true as well. I wanted to catch behind him one day just to see what it would be like but i came to the conclusion that i might fall over because of the wind coming off one of his swings

I agree that Grace is a poor broadcaster, but I had a few LOL moments watching him on FSN Arizona. Not a lot, but a few.

I can't remember the specifics because I don't watch Dbacks baseball, but my understanding was Gracie took shots at the Cubs for quite awhile, not just during the Sammy corked-bat flap.

I expect to give an unbias analyst of the Cubs, when he does his first game. Grace didn't have hatred towards the org, per se, it wasonly one person, a few teammates. So, again I expect Grace to be professional now when it comes to talking about the Cubs.

And if us Cubs fans can email Fox enough, maybe we can get either Buck or McCarver from any and all Cubs/Cards broadcast, and replace whoever is pull with either Karros or Girardi.

Could any imagine a Cubs/Cards game, with Girardi/Buck as the PBP for Fox. Atleast then, during a Cub/Card broadcast, we wouldn't have to listen an ALL GAME love affair of the Cardinals by the Buck/McCarver. And I still can't shake the comment made by McCarver that Yadier Molina was an "All Star" last yr.

I still don't know why some of you get your panties in a bunch over announcers who "hate" the Bears, Cubs, etc. So what? Does it really change your opinion of the team or the game?

Is Grace working for XM now also - I swear that I heard them say on a Homeplate Update that Mark Grace had interviewed someone and they were going to be playing a quote from that interview.

I like to hate the haters. When the Bears reached the Super Bowl despite Joe Buck's insistence that we sucked, it was a supremely satisfying moment for me as a Bear fan.

It makes me side with my team even more when Gracie or someone else bashes us. Unfortunately with the Cubs, they're usually right.

Just as he should have been.

No he shouldn't have been. He was making fun of sammy like some dumb ass drunk fan. He's supposed to be a professional.
