I agree that most of the world (NFL media and fans) believe that Grossman had more bad games than good. And they are completely wrong, but you can't really blame them.

If you look at Grossman's 5 terrible games, they were:

vs. Green Bay, national TV

at Arizona, national TV

at New England, national TV

vs. Minnesota, most of the nation got this one on Fox

vs. Miami, nobody saw it, but it was the Bears 1st loss after looking invincible.

The fact that all but 1 of those game came in the 2nd half of the season, when the Bears were established as contenders put more light on Grossman's performances.

That being said, I don't know how people can ignore 8 games with 98+ ratings, that's not something a bad QB can ever come close to.

Good point about the games being on natty tv.

Given the other suspensions handed out, I don't see how anyone expected less than eight games.

I was expecting 8, but I was holding out hope that Tank already serving jail time and being let out early for good behavior would knock it down to 4.

Tank does seem to be saying all the right things, but when PacMan got a whole season, I didn't see Tank getting less than six or seven and expected 8-10.

Yeah, I also feel like Grossman's good performances last year are being ignored. The kid had some amazing games, best I've seen a Bear QB have certainly since Kramer in his great season. That was what, 12 years earlier? That first Seattle game really sticks out for me, but there were others. I remember being at the Buffalo game and he could almost do no wrong. Very atypical for a Bear QB.

I hoped for less, but thought it would be 8 games for awhile.

The thing about this 'deal' is, if he doesn't behave it won't really revert to 8 games instead of 6. It'll mean he's done something bad again, which will really mean more games, probably the rest of the season. So really, I'm looking at as a 6 game suspension, which would probably turn into an entire season if he screws up.

If he skips counseling it will be 8 games, but he won't be suspended further. I'm also guessing that the threshold for police related interactions is much lower for it to stay at 8, compared to getting a whole new suspension.

Not sure if this interests anyone, but it's worth posting:

chicagobears.com[/url]"]LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Think you have what it takes to be the next Robbie Gould?

Here's your chance to prove it: The Chicago Park District is giving fans the chance to kick field goals at Soldier Field on Father's Day. For $50, you'll get a breakfast buffet and an opportunity to kick a football.

The June 17 event is open to only 800 people. You can make reservations by calling (312) 235-7096.

Any chance the Bears would be interested in Culpepper? Apparently, 3 teams have shown interest but don't want to be known because of the sensitive nature it could take with their current QB. That kinda sounds like the Bears. Plus, they saw Daunte twice a year for Minnesota, and know what he is capable of.

At this point, if they are interested, the smart thing to do would be to wait until the Dolphins cut him, unless they feel he is worth giving up a 6th round pick.

Sucking without being able to throw jump balls to Randy Moss?

No, thanks on Culpepper.

No idea if the Bears are one of the Culpepper suitors, but I would think the Bears of all teams are acutely aware of what happened to Culpepper when he started to suck without Moss. Those last couple games against us, Culpepper was so inept it was bordering on comical.

I'm mixed on Culpepper. I predicted he'd be terrible last year, but I'm not sure he's done. His game was very much reliant on his body in general, and legs in particular, obviously not to the extent of Young or Vick, but much more so than Grossman. I question his ability to fit in with the Bears, because I'm not sure he's ready to accept backup duty right now. Plus, his drop back and chuck it deep skills don't exactly fit in with the Bears system. I don't see him ever returning to the ability to gain 400+ yards on the ground. And he's always been a turnover and sack waiting to happen, but he does have a solid completion percentage and rating.

All in all, I think he'd probably be a better backup than either Griese or Orton, with the potential to provide much greater spark to the offense. But I don't see them cutting Griese at this point and I'm not sure he'd be too keen on signing up for that gig anyway. I think he's got to be a dome or warm weather QB on a team with big deep threats. Maybe the Rams or Detroit.

I'm not interested in having to rebuild Culpepper. He's missed a lot of time and any team that takes him is going to deal with some issues early on when he starts playing. Also, his knee injury was very serious and I'm not sure if he'll ever return to the form we remember. So you'd have to wait out some growing pains for a guy who may be damaged goods.

Basically, I feel you'd have to make a little bit of a commitment to Culpepper in order for it to work. I don't think you could just throw him in in the middle of the season if your first option craps out. I don't think that's going to work. He might be a good risk for someone, but I don't think he really fits with the Bears right now.

If the Bears decide Culpepper would be a better backup than Griese, and they cut him, what kind of hit would the Bears take for Griese? Is that something they would do? I don't see the Bears dumping Orton...I think they still view him as a project that can be productive at some point in the future.

The Seahawks, Chiefs, Titans have shown interest in disgruntled Bears defensive end Alex Brown, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Kansas City is looking for a potential replacement for Jared Allen, who will miss the first four games of the season due to suspension. Tennessee has serious issues across from Kyle Vanden Bosch and would seem to be an excellent fit. The Bears are believed to be asking for a second-round pick.

I would definitely take a 2nd rounder for Brown.

Holy crap. A 2nd round pick from one of those teams would be a top 55. That would be an amazing haul for Alex Brown. Don't really want the Bears to trade him, but I would kill for a 2nd rounder for him.

Rotoworld is saying a 3rd or 4th rounder.

The Bears are only seeking a third- or fourth-round pick in exchange for disgruntled DE Alex Brown, according to ESPN's Len Pasquarelli.

However, a deal may hinge on suitors reaching a sign-and-trade agreement with Brown, who wants more money. Chicago has the depth to move Brown, and the Titans and Chiefs are considered the early favorites to get him.

I'd live with a 3rd, but as we get down to 4th round territory, it's beginning to not be worth it.

Agreed.

Yep.

Titans and Chiefs would be a good place to send Brown though. Not even within the conference. It just makes more sense to send guys to teams you might only play once in the next 5 years, if it is at all possible.

3rd, I'd still accept in a heartbeat.....especially with the Bears track record. 4th rounder, is not enough, IMO. Again, 2nd would be amazing.
