Why would the Bears swap out for the #9 when they could have swapped out for the #6 and refused?

Christ, any idiot can be a sports journalist these days.

Ron Turner says he is looking for a "playmaker at WR."

Not a bad thought. There is a lot of good WR's in this class. There are probably going to be WR's where the Bears are picking that will be good values.

I really, really want Dwayne Jarrett.

Fixed.

He would be a good fit in that he wouldn't be pushed into a role where he would have to be a deep threat. The Bears already have a deep threat. What we need is a more exposive version of Moose, which I think he could be.

There are a lot of choices that the Bears could make that I would be ok with. They are in a good position to get a couple of good players at positions of need.

I'd be surprised if either of those guys are there at 31. I don't think TE is as big of a concern as WR. I'd like to land Jarrett and then Grubbs for OG.

Anthony Gonzalez in the first round? I'd be surprised if he went that high, but you know, he is an underrated prospect.

I've seen a mock or two with Gonzalez going around 27-30. I'll admit that I don't know much about Gonzalez, but I really like Jarrett's height. Like someone said earlier, I think he could be more explosive version of Moose.

Jarrett's not really a "playmaker", though. I think of him like Moose was for Carolina. Very steady WR. Not necessarily a pure possession WR, but not a guy that is gonna get a lot of yards after the catch. Steve Smith on the other hand is one of the truest RAC WRs to come out of the draft in a while. I don't think the Bears could go wrong with either. But I think the best fit for a supposed west coast offense that wants to get rid of the ball quickly and get some RAC yards, is clearly Smith. Not sold on Gonzalez.

For the record, if the Bears stay at 31 and 37, I hope they can get Grubbs and Steve Smith.

If they can find a way to get an extra pick between 50-75, I hope they go after Justin Durant.

Despite what many experts think, I don't think the Bears are going to go after a DT early. I'm about 60/40 that they WON'T even address the OL early in the draft. I'm 110% sure they won't go after a TE earlier than the 4th round, if at all.

I think they will draft the best player available whenever they pick, but I look for them to choose between a WR, OL, S, LB with the first 2 picks.

Anybody heard Briggs to Denver for their 1st rounder (I believe pick #21)?

Also, apparantly if the Washington trade happens somehow, the Bears are not only interested in Quinn, but also Adrian Peterson and Laron Landry.

Would the Denver deal be straight up?

AND HOORAY ABOUT LANDRY!

Not sure, but my guess is yes. And I would probably take it.

Over the Washington deal if it's actually available?

It depends. I would actually prefer the Bears lose Briggs and get an extra pick instead of lose him and just get a higher pick. If the Bears had a trade down in place where they picked up 2 picks, I'd prefer the Skins deal.

The interest in Peterson is kinda worrying/exciting. Although we'd be kinda "wasting" a pick again, could you imagine how good our running game would be with Peterson? (I'm assuming we trade Benson or something)

I don't think they could trade him. The cap hit would be huge.

He's a very very exciting player.

As for a top ten pick vs an additional first rounder, I'd give a slight preference to an additional first rounder. Getting the Giants pick, for example, would give the Bears a shot at a guy like Reggie Nelson. I personally feel that this draft is deep and 3 picks that early could be huge.

On the other hand, the prospect of getting a impact player like Landry or Peterson is really exciting. I probably wouldn't be upset either way.

would be weird having two players on the same team, with the same exact name that can play the same position :D

I was just thinking that. How would the Panthers radio announcer take it if they drafted Steve Smith? How could he call passing plays?

It would be nice if this year one time got a "War Room" journalist for the Draft. After Angelos success, Briggs situation, 2 picks in the top 40, and a very competitive SB team again youd think they would get the exposure. This assures us the Bears will at least get some face time when they draft a guy and i can at least see some highlights.
