Ill take Ruben Brown for only $2.2M.

''It's totally blowing my mind,'' Brown said. ''Just because three years ago everybody in the NFL said I was done. I never felt like I was finished. Thank God for the Bears sticking with me. They've got Terrence [Metcalf], they've got [Roberto] Garza and they can draft someone. They could have told me to take a hike. This is total respect, what they did for me.''

This is nice to hear.

I'm not so much interested in the team showing a veteran respect as I am in them fielding the best possible team. Hopefully Brown holds up for the year and Angelo focuses heavily on the offensive line in April.

This is unpossible. Lance Briggs informs me that the Bears are only into disrespecting players.

The Adams signing was great, btw.

Cool. I haven't followed his career very much. Hopefully you're right. There's always a couple under-the-radar signings that turn out great for teams. Let's hope this is one of them.

I think Tommie Harris is going to be fine, which means Adams really only has to be as good as Ian Scott. I don't think that's all that hard (though I liked Scott in his role).

I can't prove it yet because I can't open the source, but I have it on good faith that the Bears first game of the season is at the Chargers-Sunday, September 10th, 4:15 on Fox.

Here's the release from ChicagoBears.com:

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Bears will open the 2007 season in a nationally-televised Sunday afternoon game against the Chargers in San Diego. The rest of the regular-season schedule is expected to be released in mid-April.

San Diego might see a sell out for this one.

You sure that's on Fox? Aren't home-AFC games on CBS typically?

The away team determines the network. Bears @ AFC equals Fox, AFC @ Bears = CBS.

Ahh...I had it backwards then.

The silver lining is that since this is the first game of the year, Mike Brown might actually play, so at least we will fact LT with a decent run defense.

Bold added for emphasis. Training camp can be a beeyotch.

Gonna be there, BBB? I'll make the 2-hour drive down, for sure.

NFL Network and FOXSports.com report the Redskins and Bears are discussing a trade that would send franchise player Lance Briggs and the No. 31 overall pick to Washington in exchange for the No. 6 pick.

A huge contract and a 25-spot jump in the first round. This would be an enormous price for Briggs, who some consider a "system player" in Lovie Smith's defense. It would also relegate Rocky McIntosh to the bench

Do it Jerry and don't think twice!

I'm surprised nobody is commenting on the Briggs trade rumor in here.

Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Bears' disgruntled Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs, told FOXSports.com that the Redskins informed him Monday that they would like to swing a deal that would send Washington's first-round pick, No. 6 overall, to Chicago for the Bears' first-rounder, No. 31, and Briggs.

When asked about such an offer Redskins owner Dan Snyder confirmed to FOXSports.com that he in fact wanted to make the move and they were waiting to talk to Chicago. In fact, Snyder spent a couple of minutes talking to Briggs, who showed up with Rosenhaus at the meeting.

BS?

Is there a LB out there that we could draft that could even come close to replacing Briggs?

I may actually hold out for more for Briggs. He's NOT a system player. I have no clue who the Bears would take at #6. It most certainly wouldn't be a LB. I would make the Skins at least give up a 3rd or 4th rounder also.

Patrick Willis can play the WILL just fine I'm sure.

Would you draft him 6 though? It only makes sense if the Bears can trade down and get a couple picks. Wonder if the Pats would be interested.

 huh? This is would be worth the 14th overall pick.
