I mean no dis-respect to the Big 10 fans, but IMO this is a shining example of how bad the Big 10 was this year.

All said and done, OSU only played Michigan on the way to that unbeaten regular season. And who did Michigan play? OSU and Wisconsin. Who did Wisconsin play? Michigan.

IMHO, the Big 10 appeared to be strong because of a weak out-of-conference schedule and terrible depth in the conference.

look at the teams out of conference schedules before you say stuff like this please. your are def wrong.

Who's out of conference schedules? OSU played aganist Texas, and Texas isn't a top 10 team in my view. Michigan destroyed ND, that ND should not even belong in the top 15. When Michigan and OSU played aganist each other, it was a close score, yet when Michigan played SC, they got owned.

completely meaningless analysis.

How is it meaningless? Texas isn't a good football team. They lost to Ohio St, Texas A&M, and K-State. Iowa could had beat them as well.

Don't get me started on ND. They are NOT a top 10 team.

drawing conclusions about who the best teams are that way is meaningless. that's why there has to be a playoff and there has to be more than four teams.

Am I for the Playoffs? Absolutely. I feel that is the right way to "Officially" Crown a NC Team. However, since we're not in the playoff, all we can do as of this point is drawing conclusions.

doesn't make them any more meaningful though. college football is a travashamockery.

This Midwestern tradition-laden football team that played in the Fiesta Bowl last year and lost 41-14 to an ubertalented SEC team this year with a Heisman contender at QB thanks largely to crappy defense and O-line play proves definitively that they didn't deserve this BCS berth.

(Complete sarcasm BTW)

and run-on sentence . . . ND did not deserve a BCS berth this year. they played three good teams and got annihilated by all three.

Funny how no matter how obvious I make it that I'm kidding, ND haters feel the need to attack the Irish anyway after kidding comments. This treatment is getting ridiculous.

oh poor you.

Can the Pac-10 get a little respect?

Yeah, I will say that the Pac 10 certainly appears to be the only conference in which almost every team plays at least one legitimately good non-conference opponent.

USC: @Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame

Cal: @Tennessee, Minnesota

Oregon St: @Boise St, @Hawai'i

UCLA: Utah, @ND

Oregon: Oklahoma (@Fresno St would usually be a challenge too)

Arizona St: Nevada, @Colorado (probably more impressive when they scheduled it)

Wazzu: @Auburn

Arizona: BYU, @LSU

Washington: San Jose St, @Oklahoma

Stanford: Navy, @San Jose St, @Notre Dame

Pretty impressive. No other conference can hold a candle to that sort of OOC scheduling.

Congratulations to the Gators, especially FloridaCubbie and any other Gator fan on the board. Talk about a resounding win.

Ouch, and from a mod at that. I'm with NDI here, people are a little ridiculous. And as a mod I think you should be held to a little higher standard.

please clarify what you are talking about. He made a point about ND and I refuted it. I'm just teasing on the last part. And I am not a mod. anyway, its not a personal attack - or not meant to be.

That's what I'm saying - IT WASN'T A POINT! I was just making an elaborate joke, helped out by the coincidences of ND and OSU playing in the same bowl last year and both losing in similar fashion and by the same score to SEC teams in bowls this year. I wasn't making any sort of judgment on the Sugar Bowl. I can't believe my parenthetical finish to the post didn't make it obvious enough that I was joking.

I think I'll say it this time so you don't have to ndistops.

Under the current rules of the BCS (only 2 teams per conference allowed in the BCS) Notre Dame was the most deserving at large team after Michigan, and LSU.

Simple solution: stop rooting for Notre Dame

And for those discussing Texas, McCoy was injured in the last drive of the aTm game. Snead came in and immediately threw a pick to seal the game, but there's a strong chance they would've lost that game with him.

Wow to Florida beating OSU to death.

Then again, the SEC is pretty much hands down the best conference in football. I can think of at least three SEC teams better than any other team in the country.

My dad's an alum, my mom has been a fan since birth, and all of my grandparents and most of my aunts, uncles and cousins all root for (and some have also gone to) ND. I couldn't stop rooting for them if I tried.

I could see that with Florida and LSU, but I can't follow you there with Arkansas or Auburn.

McCoy wasn't healthy the whole game though. No excuses though as Texas still should have scored more than 7 vs A&M regardless of who played QB.
