MLB.com is reporting that the Dodgers and Luis Gonzalez have agreed to terms on a one-year, $7 million contract.

It looks like the Orioles and Cardinals were given chances to go to two years, but neither did. Gonzalez's deal with the Dodgers is set to be announced Thursday. His arrival to play left field leaves James Loney without much chance of a starting job entering the season. Andre Ethier is probably going to start in right.

Go after Loney if we don't go after Church? Don't know what we'd give though, plus he's young and unproven, so he may not be a target. Just a thought.

If this has bene posted, my apologies, disregard/delete

Well I guess this means Jones+stuff for Penny isn't a real option anymore.

I don't know, Colleti stockpiled middle infielders in the past. I wonder if he will do the same with corner OF's.

He already has...Ethier, Gonzo, Kemp, Loney, Marlon Anderson, Repko, Werth

They can throw Loney into the deal too.

How about Dempster and Eyre for some prospects? I'd take any one of Kemp, Either, and Loney.

Ethier screams "Adrian Beltre" to me, he's very talented, but I'm not so sure he won't flame out either. He likes to swing from the heels at times and is fundamental baseball skills are somewhat unpolished.

I watched Loney several times, he has a big hole in his swing almost identical to where Hee Seop Choi did, high and inside he's helpless. But the kid has power, he COULD be Ryan Howard Lite. Question is, can he play the OF? I thought the Dodgers tried that and decided it was a no-go.

Kemp is the winner of the bunch, and LAD knows it. He'd be too expensive for us.

LA is showing interest in Vernon Wells now, also.

Kemp and Penny are the rumor from Rotoworld.

This would be a great deal for Toronto. They won't be able to afford Wells after this year, and Kemp might end up being as good as Wells in the future.

Be an excellent deal for the Jays. Halladay, Penny, Burnett, would be the start the best rotation in baseball. And Kemp could be a star.

So they'd have Gonzalez-Pierre-Wells? We'd HAVE to make them an offer for Ethier or Loney.

Gonzo and Wells would only be on the hook for one year. I would think the Dodgers would hang onto both prospects in case they are needed to take over in 2008.

Isn't Marlon Anderson a 2B, and is he really good enough to even compete with any of those other guys anyway?

I'd rather have Wells for 2007, but looking long-term I don't think I'd trade Kemp for Wells straight up.
