Jones and Dempster make a lot of sense for the Dodgers. I think its going to take another prospect, and I'm not talking about someone of the Marshall variety. Probably more like one of the lower minor studs.

Not sure how Dempster makes sense for the Dodgers. He makes more than Broxton and Saito combined, and both are probably better at their jobs.

One thing Colletti is good at is sticking it to the Cubs. Nomar, Lofton, Furcal, Milton Bradley and Greg Maddux.

If the Cubs want Penny, I imagine they'll be asking for Gallagher and Veal.

Penny is certainly the best option I've heard. Jones seems to make sense for Dodgers, too.

Not really, but in Coletti's twisted mind, Jones probably does make sense for them.

Furcal was basically a Cub before signing with LA. He traded for Maddux. He was kind enough sign Pierre. Now Jones maybe? Which Cub is he going to want next?

Actually, if they're taking all of our outfielders, they should be kind enough to give us at least one of Kemp/Loney/Ethier in return.

I don't understand Coletti. He's the most baffling GM out there. He has Kemp, Loney, and Ethier -- all of whom can play corner OF spots -- and he's looking for more corner OF help?

Baffling.

So let's get on this...

Not to mention they can't play any of those three in center because of Slappy.

Right. And they're looking at Luis Gonzalez.

He is a bottom 5 GM in the majors imo.

Let's see....

The Dodgers got Schmidt and Wolf

The Cubs got Lilly and might get Meche

when players are falling over themselves to play on the shores of Lake Michigan I will accept this as a basis of comparison.

Kidding, my friend. Just kidding!

Um, haven't a couple of people already told you tonight that you can't kid?

No that was can't reproduce. The kidding he's talking about means something different.

MLB reports Gonzo is official to the Dodgers...now what are the Dodgers going to want for Penny? Already Loney is out of a job and Saito and Brox are at the back of their pen. The only thing now would be to include Penny and Ethier in a trade for Manny. Otherwise, I don't see anywhere to upgrade (other than building a time machine and unsigning Pierre and Gonzo).

Nomar, Part 2? I'm calling it, but I hope I'm wrong.

Disagree, I think signing Juan Pierre to that contract wasn't a good move.

We probably have a LOOGY we can offer up as well.

I like Penny a lot.

i sure as hell hope you aint talkin about Ohman, kid is the one young "sure thing" we got on this team...he is not "a" LOOGY he is THE LOOGY

I don't see any reason why the Dodgers would be interested in Jones. I'd guess it would be bullpen help and/or prospects they'd be seeking. I would think the Cubs would match up nicely if that were the case. Penny is a better option then Meche, IMO (and Lilly, but it's too late for that).
