My goodness Coletti is horrible.

i'm so glad that depodesta isn't in charge there anymore.

The same Depodesta that gave Drew an out clause? The same thing Hendry was lambasted for with Ramirez?

The rumored 5 year, $45 million contract makes the Soriano signing seem level-headed by comparison.

Very.

I mean, what are the odds Pierre doesn't lose a single step in the next 5 years?

What about when you consider that it appears he's already lost one?

They're gonna be paying 9 mil for Neifi without the arm or a premium defensive position come 2011.

(Careful - adult language on that forum)

i was gonna write something long, but deleted it.

having not been here for a while the act was cathartic.

suffice it to say ned colletti is the village idiot.

he has gotten by on who he knows and getting his mustache [poo] black by kissing so many [butts].

he knew and knows nothing of the dodgers. well, he knows the bad contracts. this is as bad as davey johnson as manager.

the only thing to look forward to is FOX taking this team back when frank can't pay it off. maybe ned can offer zito 6/95! nah, [freak] that, get eaton. just look at his stats in dodger stadium.

LOL, this guy seems to be the only one who seems to "get" it.

Wow, just wow. What an upgrade Soriano appears to be. I have no problem predicting that he'll be better than Pierre for the next five years. I gave the Tribune too much money over the years to care how they spend it. I'm glad that they're acquiring actual assets instead of placeholders. I wish Soriano didn't get a NTC but we probably couldn't get him otherwise.

Heh, some of those reactions are pretty funny.

do we get a compensation pick without offering arbitration? I'm unclear on how the new CBA works

I'm pretty sure we can still offer it, the deadline hasn't pasted.

what a weird system. offering a player no longer on your roster arbitration?

That doesn't make sense. He's reportedly just signed a deal. Why would offer Arbiration?

Absolutely we can offer it. I believe we have until 12/7, so it's a no-brainer. This is beautiful since we lost our 2nd rounder for Alfonso, so in essence it's almost like getting that pick back...but obviously since it's a sandwich pick, we'll probably be picking toward the bottom half of the sandwich round.

This is like what happened when we signed Hawkins. The Twins hadn't offered abry yet, but we signed him so early on they did it before the deadline to recieve the pick. Same with Howry/Eyre.

In past years the Dodgers probably would have waited until after the deadline because they wouldn't want to lose a pick. Now with the new system they don't lose anything of their own (except $9M for a bad leadoff hitter for thenext 5 years) so they jumped at the opportunity right away.

Wow... just wow.. Some of those people on Dodger Blues actually think getting rid of Drew and picking up Pierre were good moves.

Unreal.

Unreal.

Some people thought the Pierre signing was good for us too. I don't blame them though, just wait until they are done with the first year of his contract and then they will understand why we're glad he's a goner.

In reality, we will be at the bottom of the sandwind round and our second would have been the third pick. So we will move up 10 picks maybe? Chances that 10 pick difference is worth Nolasco is small.

True, but at least it's something for Pierre (probably a pick @ 50 overall, I would guess), and thank god that we didn't resign him.

Nolasco was a good find for us in the 4th round, the year he was drafted. Maybe we can find something with that pick that will eventually, in a strange way, make up for that loss.

Well with the way we throw around money in the draft we can find a first round talet in the 8th and just throw a million bucks at him.
