Adrian Beltre is not good, and his contract is even worse.

Hendry's gotta spend his money somehow in order to 'appease' the fans.

How about spending some of that money on higher quality food and beer without raising prices?

Lets do it, I gotta have something to get me through the long summer

Thought Betre has only had one great season, he's only 27 and last year he was actually quite good given his numbers are depressed by Safeco. He's overpaid enough that the cost in talent would probably be minimal. He a good glove and a good athlete, and I suspect he'd have some very decent years at Wrigley.

What about the possibility of getting Andy Marte from Cleveland? What would it take? He's struggled in his ML appearances so far, but I know the Tribe could use some pitching and maybe we could send them Marshall or Guzman plus something else in the farm and maybe it could work out. Things are clearly not working over there as they continue to get worse even though expectations seem to be rising every season. He's young and has a lot of potential which is a word that I don't really like at times because too many of those guys bust, but I think it would be better than bringing in say a Derosa or someone else like that.

That's Mark Teahen's line after June 1 when he came back from an early season demotion to Triple-A. They're talking about moving him to the OF, but with previous talk of moving DeJesus to a corner as well they're not hurting for bats and would likely listen to a strong offer laced with pitching. That's a line matching Ramirez's production, and he's 25 years old, a pretty solid defender, and he's not even arbitration eligible until after next season(and maybe not until the season after that thanks to his demotion). This is a situation where Hendry could overpay in an effort to save his job by improving the team short term, and still have it be a good move for the club longer term as well.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

I would hope Hendry is on the phone right now trying to pry Teahen away from the Royals. They need young pitching. We can give it to them.
