I was surprised to see Aurilia in there. I have not heard anyone mention his name at all. Last year hit 23 homers 70 RBI and a .349 OBP. I don't think he will be on Hendrys list, but that is an interesting pick.

Au contraire mon frere - Hendry has targeted him in the past. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hendry get him to play 3B, SS or 2B depending on the other moves.

I mentioned him for my bench. But, I dont think he would take a bench role.

Right, wrong, sane or crazy, these lists are just fun to read.

They have the Cubs signing, Aramis Ramirez (3B), Gary Matthews Jr. (CF), Kei Igawa (SP), Kerry Wood (RP) and Rich Aurilia (2B).

Hoops

They would have to seriously upgrade via trade, because that would be ugly.

Yes. Beyond having Aramis, that group certainly doesn't represent the big arm and the additional big bat this club desperately needs.

Agreed - he'd be fine off the bench, though.

I hope his prediction of Adam Kennedy to the Cardinals happens - what a dp combo that would be. Scrappy Eckstein and AK - wow

I think he'll need to take a bench role, because his age isn't going to inspire anyone to give him the everyday job.

You do know they played together before and won a title with Anaheim right?

He may not have a choice.

We're putting the band back together. They'll definitely win it all again.

I don't think he predicted much of anything with his list last year.

I thought a lot of his picks this year were the safe, obvious choices, so he will probably increase his % correct over last year. With so many things going on and having cascading effects, it would be nearly impossibly (for an outsider) to predict much of anything with any amount of accuracy. These lists are meant to be more fun than anything else. Like he said, he did just as well as the "insider" Steve Phillips last year. Plus, I bet when you evaluate that list from each team's perspective, you will only find a couple teams that would be happy with the way the market shook out. As cubs fans we should all realize taht you don't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes...well, you still don't even get what you need.

I think that this will be 100% correct. Cubs won't sign any new big-named free agents. Of course, this doesn't take into account the big trade to get Miguel Cabrera (RF) and Dontrelle Willis (SP) from the Marlins. Or the trade to get ARod (SS) from the Yankees for Jones and others. Or the trade to get the resurgent (see 2004 versions of) Marcus Giles (2B) and Tim Hudson (SP) from Atlanta.

Juan Pierre seems to not be thought of very highly on that list. #30 seems awfully low.

Anyone else like Craig Wilson in our OF as a pltoon partner and a 1B backup for Lee to get some rest?

You forgot the Tejada trade, silly.

That's because we sent Tejada + all but $500K of his salary, with the entire Daytona Roster to Florida for Miggy and Dontrelle. The Yankees got the entire High-A roster, and 4 major leaguers of their pick. The Braves, well they took anyone left with at least 1 arm, which left us with only Freddy Bynum and Ronny Cedeno. So, Freddy and Ronny started pitching in winter ball, and when they're not playing 1B and 3 outfield spots in the same game, they're pitching about as effectively.
