I know these things are never right and in this case I hope not, but mlb4.com posted their offseason predictions. I find these things interesting to read even if they are usually wrong. I almost got sick reading this though. They pick us to sign: Matthews Jr., Jeff Weaver, Trot Nixon, Jose Vizcaino, and in case your not throwing up yet Jose Lima to a minor league contract. Hope they were drunk when they did this. Edited by b_wiggy_66

If that is Hendry's off season I would anticipate a revolt sometime before opening day.

Anybody have thoughts on what Matthews Jr. will get for his 1 good year?

I wouldnt be upset with Nixon replacing Jones as long as we got another power hitter. But nobody else on that list is anywhere near not-crappy.

If that's Hendry's offseason, we'll have a new GM by the end of July.
He BETTER not even have that long if that's the offseason.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Hendry went after Weaver. It would follow his M.O. of copying the WS winner, but not really understanding why that team really won.

I can only laugh at those predictions. Cause if I don't laugh, I'll become suicidal. Trot freaking Nixon? Are you kidding me??

hey, that was the only one of those that i wasn't violently opposed to

Maybe Ryan Theriot fans can take comfort in the fact that he could be painted as the poor man's David Eckstein, so Hendry will anoint him his starting 2B and future WS MVP

I'm just ASKING this, so don't jump all over me please...but would it be so bad to sign Sarge, Jr.? I remember Luis Gonzalez being a late bloomer as well. He was like 30 or something when he started driving in greater than 100 runs a year. He plays a great CF and he can be had for probably 7 million/per...just throwing it out there...

Don't you know? Weaver is a great pitcher! His postseaon shows that! He's better than Verlander or anyone else on the Tigers. He's probably better than Santana on the Twins too!

matthews had a .349 babip. fluke season.

maybe on a 1 year deal, but that won't happen, he'll get a multi year deal. just say no.

Sarge Jr does hit for more power, at least he did this year. I just wonder if he would be a good gamble given that this year he hit .313 against lefties and righties, a little more power from the left side...

Clearly he'd be better than Pierre and the money we pay him would be cheaper, thus allowing us to go after Soriano...

One year wonder? Probably. Worth the gamble? Maybe...

and even if you did sign him for three years, wouldn't he be a great fourth outfielder when Pie comes...or a platoon partner for Jones and/or Murton...

I think he could fit in pretty well. I keep thinking about players that finally seem to hit their stride when 30, and Luis Gonzalez keeps coming to mind...

Hell, Giles wasn't great until his later 20's, he was 27 or 28 before he really made an impact with the Pirates. I'm sure there are other examples.

He's a gamble, but a cheap one that would fit in well in several roles in my opinion.

Since you didn't understand what I was saying. I said Weaver was a better post season pitcher than Verlander was. Weaver as the 5th starter would be fine with me. He will give you 11-13 wins a year, and he will pitch atleast 200 innings.

I guess you like old, beat down players. Bonds and Alou come to mind. They're just going to take away AB's from a future all-star in Murton.

Ok, so Weaver in the postseason before this year was an absolute disaster. You're seriously telling me that you somehow knew that Weaver in this postseason was going to be solid gold, even though he's never had ANY postseason success before?

If it's true, please pm me the winning ohio lottery numbers.
