Interesting article in the KC star today. If KU wins the Big XII this year, it will be it's 50th conference title in 100 years of conference affiliation. Pretty amazing stat.

Thats unreal. It should be a good conference tourney too, but they are definatly the favorites.

Regular season, tournament, or either?

I saw it too. Do you think it is more amazing because no other conference team has been able to rise up and challenge them? I mean sure 1/2 is awesome, but how does not one school at lesat get in the neighborhood?

Other teams have waxed and waned w/ regards to competition. Certainly Oklahoma, K-State, and Mizzou have had stretches with great teams. KU has just been consistent.

the big 12 has never and will never be that good in basketball consistently.

That's pretty silly to say, though your definition of "that good" needsclarification. regardless...

A. the Big XII is only ten years old.

B. In that short time, it's posted 5 final four teams. (KU twice, OU, OK State, Texas)

C. This year it has two legit FF contenders and one darkhorse.

D. Texas and KU look to be consistent FF threats with aTm and KSU on the rise. OU and OSU are always threats to be good teams.

And uh...Mizzou has a really nice new arena and their jerseys are kinda cool! :|

wooohooo

Mizzou travels to Lincoln tomorrow to try to avenge their home loss to the Huskers. After sweeping the state of Oklahoma again, I'm fully expecting Maric to score about 65 points to bring any postseason hopes crashing down.

That's true-I think the Big XII is at its best point that it has been in quite a while (thinking about the Big XII teams even before they joined the conference). Now, the number of titles that the Big XII teams have won in the last 50 years-that's an amazing statistic for a power conference. Does anybody know how many it is?

Revenge game against Stanford at Pauley tomorrow. Also, it's Senior Day, but there are no seniors on this year's Bruin team. I expect the Den to request Arron Afflalo return for one more year quite a few times.

Yup-Kansas, 1988 (although I'm sure you knew that part at least :D) that statistic is still absoutely amazing to me even when I do realize that most of the schools in the Big XII have not been basketball powers for long. I'm sure that statistic will add at least 1 or 2 more in the next 10 years though.

Or the same amount as UNLV. Really it should be less than UNLV, but money talks.

While I do like where the Big XII is headed now, I'm not sure it's quite as good as the 80s Big 8 with Billy Tubbs's Oklahoma teams, a good K state program under Hartman and Kruger, KU, and Missouri under Norm Stewart.

I'd agree, although in the next few years, KSU, KU, UT, OSU, TT, and Mizzou, and aTm all look to be headed in the right direction to make it an outstanding conference.

hahaha, Stacey King just called Mizzou a lock for the tournament if they finish 9-7. It's nice to at least see our "resume" on one of those graphics for once, even if it is a huge Big 12 homer saying unrealistic things about our chances.

Big game in Lubbock as 6-7 Tech leads 6-7 Oklahoma State by 5 with under 7 remaining. Loser probably eliminates themselves from a shot at being in the 4-5 portion of the B12 tourney.
