If I recall correctly everyone said we had no chance of going deep in the playoffs without an inside threat. We still do not have an inside threat so how can people now assume we will go deep in the playoffs. My ideal situation would be to work out a deal that would get us Jermaine Oneal in the offseason. Maybe we could give up Duhon, the 10th pick, and do a sign a trade with Nocioni.

With no inside threat our steaky shooting will be the death of us. Permieter oriented teams never win. Unless they have someone on the inside who can score when the guards are cold.

Not that the Pacers have made great deals recently, but the Bulls would either have to a) give up more or b) take on Tinsley or another bad contract along with O'Neal for the Pacers to accept that deal. That said, as a Pacer fan, I'd be very interested in some incarnation of O'Neal to the Bulls for young players/draft picks.

Tyrus, Duhon, 10th pick for JO?

I would absolutely do that. I think the Pacers would too.

The problem with Nocioni as the centerpiece (and he was in the proposed deal) is that a) he basically plays the same position as the Pacers last two draft picks and most promising young players (Danny Granger and Shawn Williams) and b) when trading the face of a franchise which O'Neal is, you have to sell your fans on it and Nocioni isn't a sexy enough player I'm afraid. That said, I like him and would love to have him on the Pacers.

I think the pacers would go for lessthan that. Just to get rid of JO as their max player. I really think Bird and Walsh would like to blow that team up and start over.

Anyone think the Bulls will be doing whatever possible (in a non-cheap way) to make Wade worry about that shoulder? Force him to drive the opposite way and expose it on offense, force him to run into a lot of picks on defense, etc.

Of course that's the plan.

First: The Heat can't beat the Bulls in Chicago (2-9 in the playoffs in Chicago, if I am remember correctly)

Second: Some of Wade's worst games as a professional came at the UC. Third: Shaq lost his Pro Boxing Career debut to Brad "Thriller" Miller at the UC.

Fourth: Pat Riley won't have his "thug" James Posey at his deposal.

Fifth: The Heat are a year older, slower, and worse this yr (Wade won't be too much of a factor, especially if the Bulls get him to think about his shoulder injury) then last yr's version. Whereas the Bulls this yr is considerably better.

So, I expect the Bulls to win this series in 5.

I think they probably would take less than that too, mainly because I consider Tyrus Thomas a lot. I haven't looked at how salaries match up or anything, but I still think the Nocioni-Duhon-pick pot would have to be sweetened in some way.

I agree that Duhon-Nocioni-pick is too low, and Tyrus is probably too much. My guess is that the Pacers would be demanding a guard anyway-they want Diogu to be their future post threat, and Granger and Williams are their wing players. They need a dominant center, but they need some great guards first.

Looking at the salaries of the Bulls though, I'm not sure how any deal could possibly be done. The Bulls just don't have any players making enough money right now to make a deal realistically work.

who was the inside threat in the last bulls dynasty?

Both Jordan and Pippen were able to post up. Thus taking higher pecentage shots. No one one this current team can post up.

Therefore, both Jordan and Pippen were inside threats. Just like at the deadline there was talk of the bulls trading for Bonzi Wells because he was a guard who could post up and could provide a consistent inside threat.

How often do you see anyone on this team back someone down like Jordan and Pippen did?

Yeah, if we start comparing this team to Jordan's Bulls we're going to find the '07 ballclub falls short in more than one way.

I think we should all remember that this team is not done building yet. A few sportswriters have noted that we still have a good cap situation, and we're getting another lottery pick this year.

In my mind I'll be happy if we can vanquish the Heat and then take the Pistons deep. I'm not holding out much hope of beating both of those teams in succession this year. If we did that, I would be incredibly shocked -- pleasantly so. But this ballclub's not going anywhere for awhile. I don't see us sinking downward for a few years. Regardless of what happens this year, we should be back and even stronger next year.

I don't think you can say that about either the Heat or the Pistons. Both are getting older, not better.

Yep the conference will be between us, Toronto, and Orlando in the next couple of years.

I don't think we'll have any cap room after we extend Gordon Deng and possibly resign Nocioni. We'll always have our MLE though

Being able to extend Nocioni, Deng and Gordon means the Bulls cap situation is currently very good.
