''He's one of the strongest guys mentally I've ever met,'' said pitcher Scott Eyre, who also played for Baker in San Francisco. ''There was a guy walking around in the stands [saturday] -- and I'll say idiot -- with a sign saying, 'Bye-bye, Dusty.' He didn't mean it in a nice way. I'm sorry, but that's horsecrap.

IIRC, that guy had "Fire MacPhail" written on the back of that same sign.

Sign is shooting 100% so far...

This team is getting annoyingly whiny.

Just cut it out O_O because your post has effected my whole day and now I'm going to make 2 errors and swing at every pitch.

Easy to confuse an invincible sense of your personal perfection and infalibility with mental toughness

I think that might be Kevin Costner

The fat and lazy, and unproductive, are coming out in droves defending Baker. Speaks volumes.

What would you do if your country club rights were going to be taken away?

When did the Chicago Cubs become such whiny idiots? We pay money to see you play and represent the City of Chicago and it's fans. We have a right to ask for change when you're underperforming. If I stink at my job there will be plenty of people calling for me to be fired. It's their right as my employer.

Note: no one has ever carried a sign saying "Fire BeerHere!" but the day is young.

Right! Why are our players looking at signs in the stands anyway? Just play the game and shut the hell up already.

Thank you. I don't care if the players back Dusty and from the things we've been reading recently it's probably because they could do whatever they wanted and practiced as much as they wanted. Put up or shut up time for the players if you ask me.

Is there a hidden third part to the sign that says "Fire Hendry"? Because that would be great.

Someone sitting behind home plate held up a "Hendry Sucks" sign during the 9th inning of ... Saturday's game, I think.

Scott "Merlot" Eyre runs his mouth a lot.

Why Merlot? Merlot = A popular "whine", full-bodied with fruity flavors. Rich in strong aromas and moderate acidity"
