Somehow I don't see this happening in a Torre, Cox, or LaRussa dugout.

Ron Santo's look of disgust cut through the snickers and giggles as the old Cub stalked through the clubhouse Monday afternoon.

The Cubs (63-94) had just blown another late lead with their 5-4 disaster against the Cincinnati Reds (77-79), but the mood was surprisingly light as rookies were forced to dress in ridiculous costumes -- pitcher Rich Hill wore a school-girl's mini plaid skirt, tight blouse and white fishnets -- before boarding their final team charter of 2006.

Don't see what, the rookie-hazing? I thought a ton of teams do it, the dressing like women specifically, too.

Didn't this start when Dusty took over? Sorry I don't think being in dead last place a laughing matter.

I was under the impression that this has been going on in baseball for a long time. I could be wrong though.

Really? If so, I stand corrected. I honestly only have seen this the past couple of years...

Good to see that Scott Eyre was all grins and giggles after blowing the game.

''That's awesome,'' Eyre continued as he broke into a laugh. ''He's got boobs and he looks like he is pregnant.''

Yes it kind of annoys me, but the players are human too. How are they supposed to deal with yet another loss? Are they supposed to be chronically depressed? Even as passionate fans, we laugh at this team as they find ways to lose. I can hardly blame them for finding some solace in humor, how else can you maintain your sanity?

The real problem is, the Cubs shouldn't be in this position. Yes, Dusty is like the babysitter you used to have who let you stay up late and do whatever you wanted; but it's the front office who's responsible for the sorry state of this franchise. This is what no accountability and rewarding mediocrity gets you.

Problem with the Cubs is it's a country club for the players. Players have no accountability...If they win? BONUS! If they lose? WE STILL HAVE FUN!

I really think you're making too much of this. Rookie hazing happens on every team in the majors regardless of record. I don't think you can use this as an example of no player accountability.

I get Atlanta Braves radio, and during a game they were talking about how the same thing was about to happen to the rookies. I believe for them that it's the last time they have a series in New York, so they said the players have to walk through the airport in New York in those costumes. So it does happen at least in the Bobby Cox clubhouse.

Stop losing so much.

It's not like sucking/not sucking can be turned on and off like a faucet, especially when the faucet is broken.

The faucet needs to be replaced.

Hell all the plumbing needs to be fixed!

That's not really the problem, that's a symptom of the problem, at most. The problem is they suck. The problem is they are stuck in the stone age and refuse to think objectively about the game of baseball. They could have had a drill instructor and still sucked this year.

It's annoying to see guys playing grabass even while they are losing. But it doesn't mean much.

I dont really see anything wrong with them having a good time, its been a dreadful season for these guys and they are trying to find a way to lighten up and have fun.

This is yet another in the line of 'how can pile on unrelated crap to Dusty and then overreact to it' threads.

Looks to me more like one guy got a bad impression about the story, then everybody downplayed the significance and he changed his mind when he found out about the prevelence of this sort of thing.

No, not really. I just didn't know that other teams did this sort of thing. I thought it was a Cubs thing, as opposed to all teams do it to have fun.

Come on. Let's not let things like facts get in the way of complaining about perceived complaining.
