Which Joe is the worst announcer ever?

The case against Joe Morgan is well documented.

As for Theisman, I should probably thank him for reminding me about hurricane Katrina every 5 seconds for the first half of last night's game.

Mike Tirrico: "Ron Mexico is 2-12 passing"

Joe: "In wake of hurricane Katrina, it's hard for him to complete passes, especially since he has to run on the top of his legs."

Tony K: "What else would he run on top of????"

I want to know what ESPN's fansination with ex ND players/coaches is. Theisman, Holtz, Davies, and Golic are ones I can think of off the top of my head. Golic is the only one that even makes sense when he talks.

You have some fine choices up there, but no poll like this is complete without Bill Walton.

I always get a kick out of Walton when he says a player should play with pain. He must have missed half his career due to injury.

On being just the worst, least tolerable, horrible, awful announcer, it has to be McCarver for me. He is so abysmal at his job. I thought the Family Guy bit on him was perfect.

Theismann's hire probably had more to do with his NFL experience than college. Holtz worked on CBS in between his ND and SC jobs. I really like Golic, I think he's well-spoken and makes good points. Bob Davie is actually not a bad color man when he's not disagreeing (incorrectly) with Charlie Weis's moves, which I think he's done 55 times in the two ND games he's called this year.

To me it comes down to this: Tim McCarver is the Ryne Sandberg of horrible announcers to Joe Morgan's Roberto Alomar. The stats may show that Alomar is better (Not trying to make that point) but I will always believe that Sandberg was the better player.

Tim McCarver has been so bad for so long; that's got to count for something! Tim McCarver invented hyperbole. Before McCarver we would never have known that a single stitch on a players sock can be the difference between winning ang losing the world series.
