Is it Sunday yet?

I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

I'm considering driving up to Minnesota this weekend for the game, thats how much I'm getting into this season. I dunno, I'm probably overconfident or just getting overexcited because of the crappy Cubs season, but these first 2 games the Bears looked like a special team. Say what you want about the teams that they've played, last year we would have played teams like this to a 17-10 score, this year we are blowing them out. Anyways, there are still groups of 2 tickets available at the Metrodome for a reasonable price ($46, which is cheaper then any ticket at soldier field), and I'm not sure if I'll be able to see the team in Chicago this season, so I might do it.

Manning takes over for Harris:

ChicagoSports.com"]Bears rookie and second-round draft choice Danieal Manning, who has turned in impact plays in each of the first two games, has been promoted to starting free safety over Chris Harris in the first lineup change from last year's No. 2-rated unit.

"We've been evaluating our players and we've seen Danieal make some plays," said coach Lovie Smith. "We've liked Danieal all along, we drafted him high, thought he had a lot of talent but we needed to see it in a game. We've seen him for a couple football games now."

EXCELLENT move.

Should be interesting to see how that works out this weekend, though. It still seems like Mike Brown isn't fully up to speed.

Agreed good move. I always liked Chris Harris though, probably because he got the awful Mike Green out of there. I think Harris will still produce in Manning's old role though.

Let's just see how they handle the next 2 weeks.

It's not just the fact that we played a couple weak sisters. It's also other things. Teams will have film on our pass game & protections now. And the Vikes blitz, unlike the Lions. Plus, I'm still a little concerned that our run game hasn't gotten going, and our defense while very good has still given up too many yards.

Everything looks good, but I'm not selling out until I see the Bears beat a team like Seattle. If they do that, then I'll go bazonkers :)

What a concept, starting the player you think gives you the best chance of winning even if he is a rookie.

Schlereth picked against the bears again

Did he pick against them on tv too? I just wondered if he said anything specific about why he made this pick...

That is the lamest group pick em ever.

The funny thing is, that Schlereth would be clearly the best of the bunch if he'd picked the Bears both games...heh.

Dusty, take note.

Hopefully he won't have to worry about it.

It's like Christmas is coming!! :D

I'm already going bazonkers.

If they win this weekend, I'll be boozonkers, and if they win next week I'll be boozoorific.

For each consecutive win, we need a status update on this...

Despite the limited run game, I'm especially pleased that the offensive attack has been so diverse. The play fakes have been quite successful both over the middle and deep, Rex has shown an ability to throw to the sidelines, and he has targets all over the place, allowing the Bears to create mismatches (see the Clark TD). With Mushin, Berrian, Clark and Gilmore, Davis, Gage and Bradley eventually, and McKie, if the defense wants to focus on one or two aspects of the passing game, the others can be quite dangerous. The passing attack has been working at all levels and the line has been giving him the protection he needs. And that should start opening up the run game pretty soon.

The Sporting News"]UPSET OF THE WEEK

Minnesota over Chicago. As impressive as the way the Bears demolished the lowly Packers and Lions was, I've been more impressed with the way Brad Childress' Cardiac Vikes edged out two 2005 playoff teams, the Redskins and Panthers. With a conservative offense and a much-improved defense, Minnesota should be in several low-scoring and close games this season.

This game will be won by the big bodies up front, where the Vikings have the surprising edge. Bryant McKinnie, Steve Hutchinson and Matt Birk will help keep the Bears' strong front four and Brian Urlacher off Chester Taylor. Kevin Williams and Pat Williams will have some success butting heads with Olin Kreutz.

Don't expect too much in the passing game, but I think Brad Johnson will have enough protection down the stretch to lead another game-winning field-goal drive at home. Vikings 19, Bears 16.

I hope people keep picking against the Bears. It's fine by me if the expectations are not raised for this team until later. This is the third week in a row that the Bears have been picked to be upset. Let them keep coming.

what's hilarious is that the same people who picked against the bears last week because of what the lions did to the seahawks are the same people who this week are saying the bears are still unproven because they haven't played a non-garbage team yet.

but, guys, i thought that the lions were goo.......oh, forget it.

just watch, if the bears beat the vikings, people will say the viking suck as well.

incidentally, the same exact thing happened with the lions last year--the mask came instantly off after playing the bears. i think that roy williams even made a couple of his now famous predictions last year.

What I find interesting is while the Vikings have seemingly improved while playing two teams who, at the moment aren't much better than the Packers and Lions. The Bears have "only" played two lowly teams and haven't shown any improvement over 2005 at all.

Mike and Mike called him out on this asking "If you picked the Packers, Lions, and Vikings all over the Bears, you must think the Bears are the worst team in the NFCN, right?" I've never seen anyone back-pedal so fast. It was obvious he had no answer and was just throwing out random cliche's hoping that one would stick.
