He's horrible, we're happy he's gone. You're the one missing the point, however. It was a baseball-related story posted in the baseball discussions forum. If you do not like reading about Neifi, do not open threads containing his name.

No, I'm not missing the point.

I'm happy he's gone too because I want the Cubs to win. But to keep demeaning the man is cruel and frankly, it's not the right thing to do.

Look at yourself in the mirror. I'll bet you all are the type that make fun of people behind their backs, and wouldn't have the guts to talk to them face to face with them.

I came to this thread to make a point.....I could give a flying flip what you think of me coming into this thread. Through all the slam Nefi threads, I have said very little.

At least you all had the humanity to wish Glendon well with his medical condition.

You all have the last word.

Actually, I'm rather well known around these parts for telling people things to their faces.

And if I met Neifi, it'd be no different.

He simply isn't a good player. No amount of crying about human decency can change that. Now if you're a closet Neifi fan, that's fine. But whining about the people who recognize him for the scrub that he is... it's just silly.

can't you wish the man well.

No.

Do you have to keep pounding his faults even when he's gone????

Yes.

Neifi blows -- the fact that the Cubs had a better record when he didn't play then when he did is funny (and a frustrating reminder of the lack of intelligence in the dugout and front office). The fact that this can also now be said about the Tigers since his arrival in Detroit.... also amusing... even more so that it no longer means heartburn for Cubs fans.

If posting Neifi's stats is cruel then he really needs to stop being such a horrible baseball player.

LOL...which is more cruel? Posting Neifi's stats or Neifi creating them? I'll go with Neifi. He tortured me since his arrival.

While I tire of the Neifi talk, this forum IS called "BASEBALL Discussions."

Under the heading "NORTH SIDE BASEBALL."

Frankly, I don't give two hoots how he's doing in Detroit. Actually, I do. I hope he does well and I wish him the best.

I don't because then when they DFA him, Fat Hendry will resign him.

I want him to be so awful no one picks up his contract and he never gets a job again.

And you've got it: the reason Neifi is still notable and worthy of a thread is that baseball people still think that he deserves a spot on a major league roster.

You guys sit there and act like it's a bad ballplayer's fault that a bad ballplayer is on a major league team.

Do you really think Neifi cares if you told him you hate him to his very face? All he cares about is doing a good enough job to get another 1m+ contract from some idiot who is willing to give it to him. That he gets these contracts is NOT Neifi's fault.

The anger is misdirected.

what people here think has zero effect on what happens in baseball in real life. there are probably people on this board that think they are better baseball players than nefi too.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I didn't want to start a new Neifi thread. I had a dream that on opening day next year Neifi was at 2B, Izturis at SS, Moore at 3B, with an Outfield of Pierre, GMJ, and Jones. Man, THAT would suck.

With that team, I'd probably watch the fewest Cubs games of any season since I was three.

Where was Cedeno in this dream?

Why do people wish Neifi the best? If Neifi does well in Detroit Hendry will kick himself for letting him go and try to get a similar player to replace him. If Neifi fails in Detroit Hendry might actually conclude that the Cubs shouldn't acquire Neifi-type players in the future. Maybe Neifi is a swell guy and all, but it's in the Cubs' best interest that Neifi becomes a definitive failure in Detroit.

Plus the guy has already made more money than most of us probably will even THINK of maming our lifetime, so I couldn't give a care if he completely fails at this point.

I'm uncertain as to why you posted this. I am certain that it has nothing to do with anything you quoted.

Not only its this thread titled correctly to help all those who don't like to read about Neifi from accidentally opening a thread about him, but it's still RELEVANT.

The conditions and people who made The Neifi Effect so aggravating to all of us with half an ounce of baseball accumen are STILL IN PLACE with this organization. The Cubs have an infuriating knack of treating the symptoms (Neifi's bad play, for example) while failing to address the real underlying problems (managers and GMs who overvalue players like him).

Mark my words, if Neifi gets a ring he's returning at the deadline to back up an ailing Izturis, who by that time will have been on the DL at least twice.

Of course we could also be way out of contention by then.

Lou Piniella is in love with Neifi Perez.
