"[Lee] wasn't available," Baker said. "His hand is sore. He should be OK [on Monday], but he was in the trainer's room and said he needed a [day off] bad. So no matter what, we had to give it to him."

Lee said after the game his hand was no more sore than usual. But he conceded he'd asked Baker for a real day off.

"I needed a full day," Lee said. "I'd pinch-hit every other time I had an off-day. Originally, I was going to play two days and then have an off-day, which is fine, but it's never worked out that way."

PLEASE STOP PLAYING THE FRANCHISE FOR A LOST CAUSE.

Baker lies to the media again. Only a few more weeks of this nonsense.

Where's the lie?

Lee said his hand was no more sore than usual, which implies that his hand was sore (which is what Baker said), and he admitted to having asked for a day off (which is what Baker said). Baker pulls enough crap, you don't need to make stuff up.

If we had a real GM (one that wasn't distracted by the postgame spread), he might shut Lee down for the remainder of the season.

Ridiculous. This organization is clueless. How about letting your star player fully heal since this season is already down the drain? You know the same thing is going to happen with Z. The Cubs are going to let him pitch this season instead of shutting him down.

wrist injuries linger. i said this when they were atlking about him being back in 4-6. when you have your wrist and hand in a cast for that long the muscles atrophy and i am sure this is what is causing him the most pain. that's why it flairs up after use. these muscles have been trained over years to hand the stress of hitting and preparinf to hit..when they atrophy they go back to zero. it probably will not hurt him BUT WHY TAKE THE CHANCE!

imagine the horror if something happens to lee and aram left....we would not even be a good double a team! we simply should not take the chance just to try to keep from losing 100 games...which i am sure is on dusty and hendry's mind.

The Cubs are dumb -- this is and has been their only curse.

I'd rather be cursed. At least there's hope of it being lifted one day. Being dumb is forever.

From the box score, it looks like his wrist is fine.

I got to go to the game tonight, and it was awesome. DLee got a huge ovation after his 2nd shot, even Braves fans cheered him. I don't think his wrist is hurting him all that badly.

I'm very glad to see he's still got a lot of power. Wrist injuries are always scary - Sandberg, for one, was never the same hitter after his broken wrist, mostly because he didn't fully get his power back.
