Christina Kahrl: I don't think he has the up-side as a hitter to be an offensive asset on a team that needs as much as the Cubs do. If they landed a top center fielder to upgrade on Pierre, and they got a real offensive force at second, sure, they could live with Murton. But that's a lot of predicates, and they might instead decide to leave him alone, and go into 2007 with appropriately low expectations.

 

Well, I certainly hope we could live with him then. If we got all that, we'd be one of the best offenses in the major leagues! I mean, look at this lineup

Barrett

Lee

Ramirez

Andruw Jones

Soriano

Jones

Izturis

 

I don't think it will take that much to be able to live with Murton.

Let The Riot play out the rest of the year, see what he can do. He may be the next Uggla, he may not be. You'll only find out if you let him play.

I wonder, what are the chances of Riot being our answer at 2B? Looks like Hill has been pitching very well today, very good to see.

 

I think he'll be a great utility guy.

Well geez, not to burst the bubble, but Uggla had 21 HR and an .880 OPS in AA last year.

 

Theriot has had 5 minor league HRs in his 6 year career and had a minor league OPS going into this year at .686
