McLeary in to pitch for Pittsburgh

Lee grounded an IF single to shortstop

Lee stole second base

Blanco, pinch hitting for Ohman, struck out swinging

Theriot singled to left field , Lee to third

Ramirez grounded into a DP, 4-6-3, Theriot out at second

 

0 runs 2 hits 0 errors 2 men left on base

What happened there? Fred has a ground ball double play and Gameday has Theriot getting doubled off of first (although a 4-6-3 line drive they say)-which is it?

It was ruled a trap according to Pat & Ron.

No. Lineout double play. The second baseman wasn't sure, so he threw to short. Shortstop threw back to first in time to double off Theriot. Official scorer ruled it a 4-6-3 lineout double play.

No doubt, it'll get him a spot on the bench Saturday viewing the multi-talented Will Bynum (LHP going for SF Friday), which raises another question - Dusty why is OK to platoon rookies but, not veterans?
