0.57 WHIP

0.64 ERA

Someone is going to bust out the sample-size argument, but regardless, he does look very good and seems poised to have an excellent year. Great pitching today, especially getting out of that jam in the 1st.

Rich Hill is so good it is almost inevitable he will get hurt, like all great Cubs pitchers.

He'll be good all through this year, and his superior season performance will be a big reason the Cubs come back and make it to the playoffs, when a black cat in a goat mask will interfere with a would-be double play ball while future Cubs rally to keep us out of the World Series.

Then he'll get hurt.

Considering how he finished last year in addition to his start this year, I think he's shown he's the real deal. He shouldn't keep getting his starts pushed back to keep Zambrano on his normal schedule. Getting Hill as many starts as possible should be a priority.

I agree. I said the same thing in the game thread today. I think Hill is the ace until Zambrano proves otherwise.

if he gets 81 starts we might end up with a .500 record!

seriously Hill shuts out the Reds with his bad stuff

God, I hope he can continue this and take over the role of being the team's ace. I want to see Zambrano traded for something awesome.

A-rod?

blue chip bundle?

I'll take either, happily and with gusto, though I'd spin off those prospects for Cabrera.

we should keep him in the rotation even after prior and wood come back.

I think his arm would have to fly off for him to be bumped in that incredibly unlikely dual return.

Rich Hill is the Cubs #1 starter.

I cannot wait to see him pitch again. But I've been saying that for awhile. Look what he did today without his best stuff. Wow. I'm gonna have to change my prediction for Rich Hill. I think he'll have an ERA under 3.00. The only way he won't is if he looses it mentally and goes back to being scared to pitch. I don't think that's very likely.

i think that's a bit premature.

while i've been preaching the gospel of rich for a while now, zambrano has 4 full seasons of excellent pitching under his belt. not that it makes much difference either way.

I remember either last season or the one before when there was the RUMOR that Hendry had a chance to trade Dunn for Hill straight up and would not do it. Almost everyone here was in agreement that was insane of Hendry if true. Dunn is off to a hot start this year and Hill is starting to show signs he could be the real deal. I wonder what the consensus would be about making that deal right now.

Well seeing as we have enough offense for the next 5 years and not enough pitching. I think most would side with keeping the great pitching.

Glad Hendry didn't do this deal...looking back.
