can someone provide a quick recap of how we scored these runs? pretty plz.

Every position player has at least one run and one hit... except Cedeno.

Ramirez is a double away from the cycle.

What would Murton's #'s be if he were a fulltime player?

He'd hit about 18 HR at his current pace if he played everyday. What other numbers are you looking for?

Just musing on if I think Murton/Pierre/Jones/Pagan again next year is any good, assuming Ramirez/Lee/Barrett are healthy and productive.

Pierre has won me over. He sucked in April, but is now 3rd in the league in hits. Jones hasn't been a world beater, but he's been far from the .250 hitter people expected him to be.

Pierre, according to Chris Dial at BBTF, has the worst arm of any CF in the NL. That should come as no surprise to NSBBers. However, both Dial's system and UZR agree that he has been the best defensive CF in the NL.

On offense, I don't care about how many hits he has; Izturis gets a lot of hits. I do care about OBP, and he's still about 20 points below projections.

And today's Dan Fox article at BP shows that Pierre has cost his teams runs from 2000-2005 by being thrown out so often in basestealing attempts.

He won't be worth whatever he gets in free agency. I don't mind overpaying for talent, but overpaying for Pierre would mean not having enough to sign someone who could actually make a difference.

And Jones' batting average might be better than what people thought it would be, but his OBP (which is what matters to me) is below projections.

I don't hate Pierre or Jones, but neither is a wise use of resources.

haha, the sponsor of the Baseball Reference page on Charlie Manuel has this to say:

Hiring Charlie Manuel to manage a baseball team is not entirely unlike calling the Ringling Bros Circus and asking them to send a clown to your house to fix your leaky toilet.

In other news, Dusty Baker's page has no sponsor (only $80 to trash him!)

If I were rich, I'd pay that 80 dollars.

On the other hand, Luis Salazar's page only costs $10, trash him all you want!

Brenly talking about Carlos's pitch count now.

Speculates that Carlos might get an early exit.

Then again, maybe Dusty watched the Indians/Royals game last night.

Brian (Atlanta): What do you see for Matt Murton? PECOTA was pretty close for him this year. Is he the next Randy Winn or Crisp? Or something better? Outside of an awful June, he has been consistently good this year, and great for the last month and a half.

Nate Silver: I'm not a big Murton guy. I see Bobby Kielty or Todd Hollandsworth. That's okay if you've got a robust offensive core, but maybe not so okay if you're the Cubs.

Jim Hendry probably agrees with Nate Silver. I see Hendry trying to sign a big bat (ala Carlos Lee) to play left field.
