Looks like Dave Berkmin found a stadium site in Miami area, next to Marlins Park.

Good for Bex. I wouldn't mind an MLS game to hit up on a Miami trip.

I hope they put up a massive goal shrine similar to the one in Marlins Park.

Not surprising at all, but rumors are that Ronaldo has an endorsement deal with Herbalife through 2020 and is planning on joining the Galaxy in two years when Keane retires.

I hate the Galaxy on the field, but they are totally badass. I have never been upset when MLS has bent the rules for them because they are absolutely the biggest force driving MLS evolution/legitimization.

I'm going to see Newcastle vs Sacramento tomorrow, should be a competitive game as they are both second division clubs.

I'm actually excited to see Wijnaldum play.

Sacramento is actually a 3rd division club.

And Newcastle is actually a 1st division club. I think the US pyramid can be debated. I think MLS wants USL to be the second tier. Anyway, does the distinction actually matter when there is no pro/rel?

We got the Basque event in Boise this weekend. Going to the Atletico Bilbao vs Tijuana friendly tomorrow night. No clue to what players or if Arriola are here.

Seb Lletget is really good. Easy to see he's too refined/not physical enough for West Ham, but he's been such a great signing for L.A. They're [expletive] loaded and he's classy as hell. He's got fringe nat written all over him in the useful Kljestan/corona mold.

And Stevie G is instantly a billion times more likable in a galaxy jersey.

My mom still lives in Boise and had talked about that. Definitely sounds fun, though they should play it on the blue turf.

Soccer nerds:

What is Yedlin's ceiling? Athletically he just seems on a different level than anyone I can remember seeing on the national team except Onyewu for a minute.

I'm not sure if anyone really knows. I think he still has a lot of room he can easily improve technically. The next two years are really important.

His ceiling is 90 minute playing B level champions league quality right back (your arsenals, your inter milans, your dortmunds) but he probably won't hit that. He needs better technique and 22 year olds don't learn that in England. Mid-tier EPL clubs teach pragmatism, discipline and suck the freedom out of most individual players (see: Dempsey, Clint). His ceiling is also lesser in the midfield where technique is more important.

He plays for one of the least nurturing club teams in the world. Tottenham is a brutal environment. Tons of competition, unrealistic expectations from fans and management. Constant cycling in and out of players and managers. He's got a real uphill climb. If he succeeds there, it will be a huge accomplishment. Not because he's not talented enough but because Spurs fucks up their talent as much as any pro team in any sport I've ever seen. The Bale and Kane situations were totally mishandled with loans and lack of commitment to developing the player and those guys succeeded because they're special competitors. If Yedlin does it'll be for the same reason.

Does it mean anything that Mexico is out drawing us fan wise on our home turf?

As far as scoreless games go this MX/CRC game is fun

There are huge Mexico fan bases in many urban areas. Chicago in particular, probably more Mexico fans than US fans.

The U.S. has also been playing in smaller soccer only stadiums till yesterday. We've sold out every game so far.
