I like it when a coach shows a sense of humor.

Eden Hazard and Romulo Lukaku prefer to stay away from next thursday's friendly against Australia because of minor injuries, so the national coach calls up Thorgan Hazard and Jordan Lukaku, their respective younger brothers.

@RyanRosenblatt Mix is just out here setting up goals and skipping BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE DOES

Gyau looks pretty dangerous down the right side.

Live commentary of the Germany-Scotland game when Muller stopped a possible counter in the final minutes by pulling down a player by the shoulders: "That has to be at least a wasa-ari" (he got a yellow card for his effort)

Sucks that I can never go but FC Dallas has some great deals. Get 2 endline tickets for $25 either both for Vancouver and Seattle, or LA and Portland.

U.S. forward Abby Wambach tells one from the time she and her now-wife, Sarah Huffman, were backstage in a VIP room in January 2013 before the World Player of the Year awards gala in Zurich, Switzerland. “[FIFA president] Sepp Blatter came into our little area, and he walked straight up to Sarah and thought she was [brazilian star] Marta,” says Wambach.

“Marta!” Blatter said, hugging a bewildered Huffman, who doesn't look much like Marta. “You are the best! The very best!”

“He had no idea who Marta was, and she’s won the award five times,” says Wambach. “For me, that’s just a slap in the face because it shows he doesn’t really care about the women’s game.”

The big rumor making the rounds is that Chivas USA is going to be bought by an LA ownership group, and put on "hiatus" for a couple years.

If that's true, with Houston and SKC moving to the Western Conference next year, that conference is going to be an absolute war. All the good teams in the league are going to be out there.

Not all. NYCFC will be a monster. Atlanta, who knows on the field, but they're getting Soundersesque season ticket buys. But yeah, the rest is a mess of bad owners & bad stadiums.

Holy [expletive]. They'll raise the cap too. Seattle & LA will spend like crazy. Gonna be a dog fight for SKC, PTFC, RSL, HOU and the rest to keep in the last two spots.

Brek Shea STARTED and had a nice assist for Birmingham City today. Positive sign. Guzan with yet another shutout.

Any chance San Diego gets an MLS team? I'd be all over that.

Guessing Vegas or San Antonio would be choices ahead of San Diego. Unless Chivas moved.

San Diego deserves a team. That's a great soccer town.

But there's no soccer-only stadium for them and they aren't getting one any time soon.

Sacramento will be the next city MLS expands to. They have the money, have a stadium already built with an expansion plan, and have met with MLS brass a bunch of times this year. I'll be a little surprised if that group doesn't buy CUSA.

NYCFC still have to fill out a roster. Atlanta doesn't start for a couple years, right? It's Orlando City next year. And the existing teams are all either bad or mismanaged. DC could go right back to being bad next year. RBNY loses Henry and Cahill looks done. Chicago has the worst non-racist owner in professional sports. TFC are the MLS Cubs. Montreal has an idiot owner. Columbus and the Revs are decent.

I like the idea of Sacto's group just buying Chivas, rebranding them as Sacramento Republic FC because the team would instantly have massive local support, and two ready-made rivals in LA and San Jose.

I just hope the league's insistence on trying to have two teams in a market as fickle as LA doesn't override the simple solution.

The ref in the Chicago/TFC game made two of the worst calls of the year in each box, both times against TFC.

That was not a PK on Bednik (and if it was, you send him off), and that was absolutely, positively not a foul on Gilberto when the winner in stoppage time was waved off.

I hate it when the refs make themselves the storyline.
