[expletive] Sunderland. The last thing we need is another core NT player sucked into that vortex of [expletive].

I'd rather he go to TFC than Sunderland.

Of all those teams, Schalke make the most sense to me.

But Roma are rumored to be bringing in another CM, which would cut his time down quite a bit.

Roma got Radja Nainggolan (another young Belgian international) on loan from Cagliari; but he's more a DM

Considering Roma's manager has been using Bradley to cover DDR, Radja coming in impacts him quite a bit.

I'd actually like Jermaine Jones to go to Sunderland. He's coming to MLS after the World Cup anyway. Might as well get paid and possibly help Jozy out for the rest of the season.

Seltzer saying TFC is a done deal. It's weird how I've always wanted MLS to be a player for great young players in their prime and be competitive with the best leagues in the world, but now that the very first signs of that coming to fruition are starting to show, I'm not ready for it when it comes to this move. Happy for the guy, though. He's getting paid more than any other club in the world would ever pay him now.

Considering the competition for spots on the Belgian WC team (Fellaini, Witsel, Dufour, ... heck , even Thorgan Hazard, Eden's younger brother), the exposure at Roma will suit Radja just fine.

FOX and ESPN beat out NBC for MLS rights after 2015. Good article about the bidding:

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/thegoalkeeper/NBC-to-lose-MLS-rights-in-2015-ESPN-Fox-likely-to-share-new-deal.html

I'm no fan of Fox and their broadcast quality; I thought NBC did a nice job this past season, and I do not want to listen to Gus Johnson call MLS games.

I'm with you, but I also like the fact that there's an actual bidding war. It used to be an ESPN charitable gesture.

This Bradley move has been really interesting. MLS and our players basically find ourselves in the same position that Mexico has been in for decades. Our league is big enough and rich enough that they'll pay our best players too much money for them to go to low level European teams but not so much that our very best won't leave to go to big teams, but our players aren't good enough/high enough profile to attract interest from the very top teams. MLS is pricing out mid - low table teams in the big leagues and our players aren't wanted by the very top teams.

Right now in the EPL there are:

-7 points separating 1st from 6th

-17 points separating 6th from 10th

-6 points separating 10th from 20th

Every now and then Jurgen does something troubling that leads me to question his grip on soccer reality, like leaving Ronaldo and Messi off of his top three Balon d'Or ballot.

Without looking I'll guess he had:

Bale - played for Tottenham

Ribery - cause he plays in Germany

and Zlatan - just because of his personality

Posted

Ribery, Bale and Radamel Falcao.

Messi voted Iniesta, Neymar and Xavi.

EDIT: Dempsey voted Ronaldo, Messi and Zlatan.

Jurgen is now excited about Bradley and Deuce in MLS. Is this him just being a chill guy and not [expletive]-talking his two best players, had he actually changed his mind or is this him taking the long-term view of a stronger MLS = a stronger National team in the future now that he has the extension through '18?
