What a game.

SKC is lucky that Palmer hit his off the bar; Rimando is an actual soccer player. Neilsen would have tripped over his own feet trying to score.

I was at the game in KC today and it was insane, and cold, oh so cold.

It was an incredible atmosphere though. Id love to see the NFL go to home field Super Bowls just for how awesome the home field advantage would be.

I can't imagine there won't be some pasty Brit who gets tanked and falls into the Amazon.

Too many games going down to the wire, not enough TVs and computers.

Napoli leads Arsenal 1-0 while Dortmund is tying Marseille. However Dortmund is up a man so if they score, they're going on and Napoli is out.

Ajax and Milan are tied with the winner going on and Milan going through with a tie. Milan also playing a man down.

EDIT: And now Arsenal is down a man as Arteta is sent off.

Seattle traded Mauro Rosales to Chivas USA for Tristan Bowen and the #2 allocation spot. Good lord they make good moves off the field. Bowen is a really promising young MLS striker who understandably languished when traded from the Galaxy to Chivas and the #2 allocation spot will probably yield the rights to Steve Cherundolo, Jermaine Jones or Michael Parkhurst.

Klinssmann signs 4 year extension

Anybody surprised by the timing of this extension? I generally like Klinsmann and, obviously, 2013 was a great year for the USMNT, but what happens if they scrape 1 point from the group in Brazil?

I am. It seems wholly unnecessary.

Unless it was to really codify him becoming TD after this cycle or the 2015 Gold Cup.

I don't think it speaks highly of Jurgen's expectations for this Cup. If he was super confident, he'd wait and negotiate with more power.

Anyway, lots of action in MLS today. Kenny Cooper traded to a club yet to be named, Zakuani to Portland from Seattle, Chad Marshall to Seattle and Bayern Munich is officially next year's all-star opponent.

Excellent. Might be going up for the game.

Just noticed that because they finished second, Arsenal will draw one of Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Atletico Madrid or Bayern Munich in the R16. That should be fun. City's is almost as bad except the can get Dortmund but not Bayern.

City has scored more goals in 8 home games this year than any other team has scored in all of their games. City's at 35 goals at home and the next closest is Liverpool at 34 goals in 15 games.

Arsenal played stupid, but City play like an old Brazilian team. Glad Walcott is back, Arsenal's depth has been nonexistent.
