It's cute that Freddy still thinks teams want him despite him never ever putting the effort in to be the player he's capable of being.

He could have been our homeless man's Riquelme. Instead he's like our homeless man's broke cousin's Joe Cole.

And the thing is, he could, at any moment, decide he wants to try and still be pretty good.

Looks like Shea will be in the Stoke squad tomorrow vs Fulham.

I hope Dallas can get the USMNT for a game rather than another Mexico vs Cuba game at some point.

Gareth Bale is [expletive] ridiculous. Two more goals including a stellar 90th minute strike from 30 yards out to give Spurs a 3-2 win at West Ham. That's 11 unbeaten in the Premier League and third place, two ahead of Chelsea and four up on Arsenal.

Between that, Rafael, and Cisse there were some great goals this past weekend.

I enjoy watching some futbol but I find the way people talk about the game annoying.

His sheer nerve to attempt the shot is laudable; that he found the net with it nearly escapes words.

His sheer nerve was laudable? Come on, that's the kind of stuff FJM used to rip from myth making baseball writers. I'm not sure if it's a matter of scoring being relatively rare so that when it does happen people have to find hyperbolic ways of describing how the player accomplished the feat, or if it's a matter of the sport being the only game in town for so many markets, and therefore the myth making bullshitters are left unchecked to spout their nonsense. But why is it that American viewers, who are so often the types who have learned to be more objective and sensible when it comes to discussing baseball, and to a lesser extent football, still carrying on with the European way of describing futbol action?

It was a tie game against a team they should beat. He's very good and was lying on the ground with little time remaining. He noticed everybody vacated his area and when he got up nobody came very close to him again, so when he got the ball back he made one move and took a shot. It was terrific shot that a only a very skilled player could make (I assume), but there's no reason to get all "his nerve was laudable" about it. He's a professional athlete paid to score goals and he did that.

Most of the Europeanisms of soccer don't bother me, but a couple of them lately have been driving me nuts. A kit? It's a [expletive] uniform. And the pitch? It's a [expletive] field. It's like Americans referring to basketball players as "cagers". Annoying and unnecessary.

Terrible example. Reductive, racially biased and lazy =/= copy-catting foreign terminology.

I didn't notice the post between, about kits and whatnot. I'm not a fan of those forced futbolisms myself, but that's not what I was referring to in my other post and don't compare to the other ways people talk stupidly about futbol.

Stu Holden just made his league return. Big time.

Also, the guy at everytouchfooty.com made a mixtape for John Anthony Brooks' last game. First I think I've ever actually seen him.

He's the lanky left center back. His best bud is a forward who plays for Kaiserslauten and for our U-20's who said in an interview with yanks abroad that Brooks wants to play for us in the u-20 World Cup.

Assuming we can beat Canada. Tied right now 1-1 with them, after Luis Gil tied it.

3-1 at the half. Villarreal and Trapp with the other goals.

4-2 now with like 7 minutes to go.

Are 4 teams from Concacaf going to the U-20 WC? They are making this seem like a win and in game for a quarterfinal.

Nevermind, just found that the top 4 are going.

Jozy just tied Dempsey's Yank Abroad goal record from last year of 23. Two goals and an assist vs Ajax in the Dutch Cup today. Obviously we're talking midfielder vs forward and the Eredivisie vs the EPL, but it' still impressive. He should break 30 in all competitions.

2 goals against Ajax is always impressive. Plus a chance in the Dutch Cup Final. A nice farewell season assuming he moves on this summer. Alkmaar is a cool ass city to spend a couple of years in.

BUT JOZY IS LAZY AND CANT FINISH AND EJ IS THE GUY WHO SHOULD START FOR THE US ARGLE BARGLE

Great to see him flourish and respond to JK's stupid with his play on the field.
