Duff was signed as cover for Europa League and squad depth. Hodgson will use him as a sub and he'll get a start here and there.

At 60 grand a week?

I wish I could have just 1 week where I made $60,000.

Well it'd be more like $90,000. He makes 60,000 pounds. A Rod makes like $500,000 a week.

I'll take pounds or dollars, whatever someone wants to give me. Just no peso's out of principle alone. As for Arod, I don't want to sound greedy :-).

So Phil Brown basically admitted that, like I suspected, Jozy being froze out was about Landon's H1N1. Between Jozy, Michael Bradley and Steve Cherundolo missing action, Landon is now doing damage to more than just his European prospects.

That would be my guess. With Duff's injury history, and the fact that Clint is Fulham's highest paid and longest tenured player, Hodgson will be creative with him. Maybe rotate Davies, Gera, Dempsey and Duff around a bit-keep in mind that their striker depth is thin, too. Deuce and Duff might even see some time up front, since Nevland is old and EJ is their 4th striker currently. Between Europa league, the FA cup, the league and international duty, my guess is Duff will see enough time to justify the salary/transfer fee.

I don't think this means Clint moves centrally, though, unless Murphy gets hurt or needs a break desperately. Fulham's success depends mostly on how well they keep their shape and defend, and while Clint's defensive workrate on the left is really good now, I question how well he's suited to play a central role in Roy's system.

Spurs look freaking great. I doubt they can keep it up all year, but Europa is a distinct possibility. There definitely will not be any relegation talk.

Modric played really well on Sunday. Was he at it again?

Hull looked so bad that it was hard to draw any real conclusions, but he was ok. Wasn't that heavily involved. No fault of his, the right side of attack was so wide open they just ran their attack down that flank. Defoe was unstoppable, Keane was everywhere in the attack and Palacios was really good too. Had some nice supporting runs, distributed well and finished his goal strong.

I didn't know this, but Altidore had now being held up by the US Gov't because of a Swine Flu quarantine. His twitter said he is on his way to JFK and heading out to England tonight. I doubt he will be playing Saturday, but that would be nice.

Donovan on loan to Paris St. Germain now after the MLS season appears to be the latest report. I think I like this more than a move to Italy. Then again who knows if it will actually happen.

That's [expletive] perfect. Keep fit leading up to the World Cup, play on a good team with great players like Makelele and put himself in the shop window for a big move after the World Cup if he deserves it. Most importantly, there is absolutely no excuse for not breaking into the starting XI.

I think I am happy they are not paying in Europa also. He should start and get plenty of playing time and not overworked leading up to the WC.

I'm not sure if anyone listens to World Soccer Daily, but I download their podcasts from time to time. The show went off the air today because of threats against Steven Cohen's family for his comments about the Hillsborough disaster and the Liverpool supporters. I'm not crazy about Cohen, especially not his stupid comments about Hillsborough, but I'm pissed the show is gone. As we all know there's a gap in media coverage of soccer in America and I thought the show did a nice job of providing a perspective to an American audience. Apparently, he made the comments about 5 months ago and some American Liverpool supporters have been trying to get sponsors to drop and get Sirius to take them off the air. Something has happened within the last 2 days and Cohen decided to pull the plug on the show because of the threats. Very bizarre story.

I dont know all the circumstances, but it seems like he may be using the threats as an excuse. He had already been replaced on FSC by Wynalda, and he had already lost a lot of sponsors. To the point that he was trying to get funds from some of his listeners. If I had to guess I would say he could not find any sponsors and had no more money and that is why his show is going off the air.

I listen pretty much every day and I think reggie's got it. Unfortunately I really liked the show and there wasn't anything else like it out there in terms of a daily, good soccer show. This sucks. I downloaded today's podcast but haven't listened to it yet.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Man U finish out of the top four this year.

They are just not that good, especially in the center of the pitch. There's no Ronaldo to relieve pressure on a mediocre unit.

While they are not that good right now, if they find themselves in trouble in January, SAF will dip into the chest and bring in the talent that he did not bring in this summer.

Regardless, the Prem should be fun to watch this year because Man Utd is down and Chelsea is old. Hopefully, the title chase provides some great drama and I'm pumped that ESPN2 is showing matches on Saturdays and some Mondays this year because I don't get FSC anymore.
