Haha. Liverpool's backup goalkeeper just got sent off against Blackburn so they're going to have to go with their third string goalkeeper for this weekend's FA Cup semifinal against Everton.

I honestly have no idea who the fourth string goalie is (i.e., the goalie who will "merely" be the back-up in an FA Cup Seminal Derby).

Liverpool's third-string goalie just got yellow carded. My heart sank for a second.

They got the call right but I was hoping for a red just to see who they would put out there on Saturday.

Ha ha, I wasn't. (I don't think Liverpool is going to beat Everton anyway, though, unfortunately.) I'm not real sure though . . . I think there's an argument that it should have been a red. It denied a goal-scoring opportunity, right?

Either way, that was a crazy, entertaining game. Not exactly what one would have expected.

Yeah, that call could have been a red. I think the combo of the ref already sending off one goalkeeper, the ball going away from goal and the fact that the Liverpool defender probably would have gotten to the ball before the Blackburn player swayed him to only give a yellow. It certainly wasn't as clear cut as the red card which was handed out.

Their fourth stringer is on loan to Hull, so I guess they are going to put one of their academy kids on the bench and just pray (both Bedford and Mersin are only 17)

According to this (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2128214/Liverpool-recall-Peter-Gulasci-Hull-amid-keeper-crisis.html) they are going to recall Gulasci from Hull. Either way, not exactly the goalie situation you want at Wembley.

The title race got a little more interesting as ManU fell at Wigan today while City thumped West Brom 4-0, so the lead is down to five points.

Altidore scored twice, Fabian Johnson once today. Kljestan assisted.

Dempsey, Altidore and Gomez have combined for 59 goals this year. AKA, two fewer than Leonel Messi.

I like Pele pimping Neymar as better than Messi right now. Until he gets his ass in Europe there isn't much to talk about.

some 'in the knows' on an everton forum i visit say he wants to go to everton but finances make it less likely with each goal he scores.

Everton owe so much money to the bank...if they couldn't afford LD's MLS buyout, they aren't even in the ballpark on Clint's fee this summer.

I think he'd go to Spurs if they were top 4. It's gotta probably be a London club, and he's too smart to trust the situation at

Chelsea.

Yep. He's got two young kids; he's not going to uproot them to go to PSG or some crap, either, and for damn sure he's not going to go to Liverpool or Newcastle.

Definitely. To use Pele's argument in the Messi v Pele debate from a couple months ago, when Neymar has scored 30 goals in one of the best leagues in Europe three times, 14 in a Champions League season and 60 total in a season, then we can talk.

While I'd love to have him at Spurs, where would he play? They've got Bale and Lennon on the wings and Parker/Modric/van der Vaart in the middle. I don't watch Fulham much, does he play up top for them at all? Adebayor might be gone because of his salary, but if Spurs finish in the top-4, it's likely they'll be able to keep Bale and Modric.

I've looked at some Soccernet heat maps for Fulham games and depending on Jol's formation and the availability of his teammates, Clint has played games at every position in the front 6. Obviously he's not a holder, but he's at his best running at defenders with the ball in the withdrawn striker role. Which means he's essentially Van Der Vaart but a better defender. So Spurs might not be a natural fit. Arsenal makes the most sense, he'd slot in for Benayoun as an upgrade in skill, health, versatility and defensive effort. He'd see plenty of time up top as well with Van Persie's injury record and the fact that they'll get rid of at least a couple of dudes like Chamakh.

Given the choice to kick John Terry or Luis Suarez in the nuts or buck teeth, who do you pick?

Definitely Suarez. All the flopping and whining puts him over the top.

JT in a landslide. He's an awful person.

Real Madrid tied the La Liga record for most goals scored in a season today with 107. Messi and Ronaldo also both topped Ronaldo's mark of 40 goals in a season and have 41 apiece. And each has five games remaining. Messi's also up to 63 total for the year, only four back of that mark.

La Liga almost feels like the SPL now. Really hope UEFA could someday institute a salary cap.

That's a pretty good comparison. Obviously La Liga is much better than the SPL is but within the league, it's pretty accurate. The last time a SPL team other than Rangers or Celtic had a +10 GD was in 05-06. Valencia is in third this year and they have a +12 (and that only went over +10 during midweek when they won 4-1). Osasuna is in sixth place right now, which would qualify them for the Europa League, and they have a -15 GD on the year. The reason is Barcelona beat them 8-0 (Osasuna won 3-2 in the other game) and Real beat them 5-1 and 7-1.
