T&T is leading Honduras 1-0 at the half which is huge for us. Hopefully Costa Rica wins tonight also. Might as well look towards seperating ourselves from the bottom 3 from here on out.

T&T was playing, and beat, El Salvador, not Honduras. Costa Rica is playing at Honduras tonight.

 

And yeah, win those two games, which is realistic, and you go into the final two games (at Honduras, vs. CR) needing maybe a draw, if anything, to get into the top three, especially if Costa Rica wins tonight. If Honduras wins, then it's pretty cluttered with CR (12), US (10), Hon (10) and Mex (9).

Pussied out on the first goal. Lazied out on the second goal. Had his back to Sabah and just stood there flat-footed.

 

 

 

Gooch was immense. Davies was immense. That's about it. Howard was good enough. DeMerit was strong but showed his limitations providing cover and when people get behind him.

 

There were a lot of poor performances, but I think most of it stemmed from the poor clearance of the back line. The back line didn't play anything good to Clark and Bradley who in turn didn't play anything good to Donovan and Dempsey who in turn didn't feed anything (other than the superb pass from Cakes to Davies) to the top.

 

Combine a loss with the frustration of having zero organized possession, being on your back heels all day, typical unfair CONCACAF officiating and the [expletive] [expletive] games that Dos Santos and Castillo love to play and I did not enjoy this game.

 

I didn't expect to, but for once I wish it could just all be about the play on the field, not the bull [expletive] Mexican antics and typically poor officiating.

Holy crap, Honduras beat Costa Rica 4-0 and the qualifying group got a hell of a lot more interesting today.

The next two fixtures are El Salvador at USA, T&T at Honduras, Mexico at Costa Rica on Sept 5 and USA at T&T, Costa Rica at El Salvador and Honduras at Mexico.

 

I'm thinking that Costa Rica has to beat Mexico at the Saprissa. El Salvador is going to be a tough road game (they beat Mexico and tied us at home) and they've also got to play us here. However, if Mexico loses that game, their next game at home against Honduras is a must win as well.

 

At least one of Mexico/Costa Rica/Honduras are going to drop points and two probably will, it's likely that two of them will and potentially all three of them will. If we can win both of our games (which we should), we could be in first place going into the last two rounds in October and have a spot in South Africa all but locked up.

The new rules go to effect October 1st. The reason Zamora and the other guy are immediately eligible for T&T is because they had no previous caps with any senior teams.

So yesterday, a bunch of reporters were twittering about Justin Mapp being signed by Benfica. Anyone who has seen Mapp knows he's a nice MLS player, but he isn't a Benfica target by any means. Turns out it's because somebody added his name to a URL on Benfica's official site that automatically generates a new signing announcement.

The first match I've seen listed is for next Tuesday, August 18th between Arsenal and Celtic. This makes me very happy because I'm not a Fox Soccer subscriber. If its in HD, I might have to change my pants.
