i knew the result of the chelsea-liverpool match and i was still nervous watching the last 25 minutes of it. i wouldn't say it was a great match because the defense from both sides was pretty sub-par but it was still exciting. either way, i love sending the scousers back home empty handed.

chelsea has to shore up the back four if they plan on advance past barca. today's result shows how crucial john terry is to their success. also, petr cech needs to get his head out of his ass.

I don't think it's fair to say that Liverpool's defense was sub-par because they were trailing the entire match and always needed to get at least a goal so they were pushing more guys up than they normally would have.

But as for Chelsea, I agree. Giving up three in 12 minutes (or whatever it was) to Bolton over the weekend and then four today certainly isn't a good sign. If they play defense like that in the semifinals, Barcelona is going to eat them alive.

I will pick Barcelona to advance, but there is the wild card you need to account for that their offense is threaded through Xavi who will be getting an ass full of my guy. Essien can and will shut any one down.

my favorite part of yesterday's game was essien's big melon head stopping that shot from the line when cech was way out in front of the net.

Was Cech drunk yesterday? He looked really horrible. Barca look unstoppable right now. Hopefully Arsenal come to play today, I haven't seen anything on the lineup yet.

it was the worst game i've ever seen him play. i didn't get to see this weekends game v. bolton but it sounded like the defense was bad there too.

JT suuuuuucked against Bolton. They need to start thinking of long term replacements for he and Carvalho.

i'll be a sad chelsea fan when terry's gone. its a matter of time until they do it, but he's bought some extra time because he's such a fan favorite.

I'm gonna predict a 2-0 Arsenal win and a a 2-1 Man U win.

I feel confident in Arsenal winning but the other game could go anywhere from a 2-0 Porto win to a 3-0 Man U win. No idea what will happen.

Arsenal up 3-0 and Villareal is down a man.

I think it's safe to say that's two English teams in the semis.

Ronaldo's goal was a perfect example of why I take him over Messi. He plays with an arrogant aggression that gives him the confidence to pull of [expletive] like that. He can do it all. If he was less groomed and less petulant, I'd love him.

Its the arrogance that takes someone from being great to being transcendent. Ronaldo tries crap no one else would dare try, pulls it off, and gets hated for it. Messi is too team oriented to try some of the more audacious moves-maybe a product of Barca's system, come to think of it.

United played really well today. Even Berbatov looked like something other than a guy who was chain smoking the whole game. A max effort all around.

If he wasn't on ManU and Portuguese I could love him.

Toenail surgery always sounds more painful than hip surgery.

Every little bit helps:

Red Card[/url]"]President Obama wants the World Cup in the United States and is doing his part to help make that happen.

According to the New York Times, the president wrote a letter backing the U.S. Soccer Federation's bid for the 2018 or 2022 World Cup. The letter was hand-delivered to FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

Cherundolo out for the summer with hip surgery. Altidore out a month with toenail surgery.

That puts Jozy in doubt for the early June fixtures...

I think they're only saying he's out a month so nobody questions the fact that he'll never make the bench for Xerez. I had toenail surgery before and the recovery time was nowhere close to a month.
