He started tonight for the Diamond Jaxx (AA) and got the win. There are still concerns over his velocity.

You can check the minor leagues forum for tonight's minor leagues game thread (link). The minor league box score is here.

Per Rotoworld:

Wade Miller-S- Cubs Aug. 10 - 8:37 am et

Wade Miller (shoulder) will make a start Double-A West Tennessee on Friday.

Miller pitched well during his last rehab start so hopefully he can have a good outing on Friday. He will like need a few more quality rehab starts before the Cubs will consider activating him from the disabled list.

I haven't been following him much lately, what's the reason he's so overblown his expected return? I am thinking right that he was supposed to be back in June? Do they have a thought now on him pitching in the bigs this season?

If that's the case why bother? Why bring him back for the last month of the season? We already know what he can do, I would rather them play the kids and let Miller waste the rest of his year rehabbing.

The genreal consensus is that no one is certain if his velocity has fully returned. He has shown in his rehab starts that his velocity isn't up to par with what it was before his surgery. There is a chance the Cubs might release him at the end of the season if he isn't recovered yet.

In addition to the ongoing velocity issues, he had been shut down a couple of times with a sore shoulder IIRC, which of course cost additional rehab time.

they should just let him keep rehabbing, get stronger, sign him again for next year at a cheap/incentive type deal and hope for the best

Hendry took a chance on him, and it obviously didn't work out. At this point, just let him continue to pitch in the minors. He had better not step foot in Wrigley this year.

I'd be more concerned about overworking some of the younger pitchers than I would depriving them of experience. If the Cubs are going to sign a bleh innings eater type vet they might as well see if they want to consider Miller for that role.

if he somehow bumps one of the youngsters out of the rotation, i'm gonna be pissed.

I think the guy he will bump out of the rotation is Mark Prior.

I think there is very strong possibility that the Cubs will shut Prior down for the rest of the season.

Zambrano, Marmol, Guzman, Hill and Mateo for now. When Wade is ready, he will replace one of those guys, and if and when Marshall is ready, he'll replace a second guy. We're going to get a good look at a lot of these guys these last 6+ weeks now that Maddux, Wood and most likely Prior are not part of the picture.
