Per Rotoworld:

Rangers signed 1B Randall Simon to a minor league contract.

Simon will report to rookie-level Arizona, which is an odd place for a 31-year-old veteran. The Rangers may call him up when rosters expand next month.

Say what you want about Randall Simon, but I will always have fond memories of the guy for his contributions in '03 -- including the 2-run homer that helped give the Cubs a 4-3 lead in the 8th inning of Game 3 of the NLCS.

Randall Simon......now that's a Dusty Baker player if there ever was one. But boy his enthusiasm (sp?) for the game was unmatch.

He would make a great bench coach on the White Sox. Imagine him & Ozzie

Just as long as both Simon and Cora stay away from us, I'm alright with that. I don't thing Simon has ever been considered overly intelligent so that move would hurt the Sox which would please me.

The only thing Randell Simon can hit is the Italian Sausage

And clutch HR's in the NLCS

I thought that was vs the Braves (NLDS), or did he hit another?

Randall's #s from the 2003 post-season:

NLDS: 4 Games, 3/7, 0 HR, 2 RBI, .429 AVG, .429, OBP, .571 SLG
NLCS: 6 Games, 5/17, 1 HR, 4 RBI, .294 AVG, .294, OBP, .588 SLG

True to his nature, he did not reach base by any other way than a hit.... but he did hit!
