AP[/url]"]The Cubs placed left-hander Glendon Rusch on the 15-day disabled list with left lateral epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow. Pitcher David Aardsma was recalled from Triple-A Iowa.

Otherwise known as we don't really want him to pitch anymore, so we're going to sneak him onto the DL. This could be a real injury, but this is one you sort of question.

I really wish I were employed by the Cubs. I could do as crappy a job as I want and know they'll still take care of me.

DFA him!!!!

Once again, I didn't know you could pull fat.

Mike Murphy stole your joke on the Score, man. He asked George Offman if Rusch went on the DL will pulled fat. Offman just pretty much just stammered.

How much do we stand to lose (financially) if we DFA him in the offseason?

Nothing. The money is already spent, so how could we lose it? Sunk cost.

He seems like the perfect situation to run a waiver trade through. If someone claims him, let them have him. If not, you can trade him if someone gets desperate. I can't imagine they aren't considering this.

I'd hope they're already trying, but it's the Cubs, so you never know.

I wonder if Mike Murphy has been reading the site.

When I said I was in as good a shape as Glendon Rusch is at the game on Monday after he gave up a homer, a fan behind me immediately began proclaiming that I could never hope to be as good as Glendon.

After Glendon immediately gave up another homer, I hissed at him that I can give up three dingers an outing and have an 8.00 plus ERA just as well as Glendon can. That pretty well shut him up.

They very well may be. It's not public information who teams put on waivers, so for all we know Glendon could be one of them. Most teams routinely put several players on waivers after the deadline, since they can always revoke the waivers if a player is claimed by another team.

It is true..I can't remember from what source it was, but I read something the other day where Rusch was listed as one of the names who still would have a decent chance of moving during August-in fact, he was the only Cub listed.

I think he'd have practically a 100% chance of clearing waivers and being able to be traded. Any team claiming him would be responsible for his full salary the rest of this year and all of next year if the Cubs accept the other team's claim. We have the only GM dumb enough to do something like that.
