New Rumor: Andruw Jones for Coco Crisp + more

The Red Sox and the Braves have talked about a deal that would send Andruw Jones to Boston for Coco Crisp, Craig Hansen and a prospect. But according to an executive familiar with the discussions, the Braves made a counter offer, asking for Jon Lester to be the third player.

Horrible trade for Boston if they give up Lester. If they are going to trade Lester, use him to get Schmidt or Zito.

I don't think Boston will give up Lester and I doubt the Braves think they will. It was a counter-offer. I wouldn't be surprised to see something go down with a lesser prospect in the place of Lester.

That only makes sense if the Braves are going to move Giles somewhere....and I don't know why the Braves would downgrade two positions. Giles is better than Loretta and Jones is better than Crisp.

Maybe sending Giles for pitching? They've been able to hit the ball lately, but haven't had much pitching.

The do-no-wrong Braves have been making some iffy moves lately. I thought for sure they would be trading Giles, who has really fallen off this year, and given the 2B job to Betemit. Plus, with Chipper down again and becoming pretty injury prone, even less reason to trade Betemit. I don't see why they would want Loretta either, given that he's a FA after this year.

That would be Lugo, hence the follow-up trade with Tampa.

I like the fact that Boston has more middle of the road type players that are hard workers, as opposed to the lofty Yankee payroll, and the superstar egos

Atlanta also wants Jon Lester in return for Jones. I dont see this deal happening.
