I saw an interview with Walker in the postgame conference, and I swear the guy looked like he was about to cry. In fact, a couple of times he sniffled when he was talking about the game.

Basically, he said he was embarassed to be out there after messing up like that, he emphasised how good the fans have been to him, and he let them down, but the loss all on him, and the 11 run inning, and there were no excuses for his play.

BTW, this was running on Comcast for those interested

Sounds like the Todd that we all know. Great guy, just had a bad play today. He will take the blame for it all, but what the hell was Novoa still doing in there?

Todd screwed up, but he wasn't responsible for all 11 runs, although some posters here would like to pin all of them on him.

He's showing some accountabilty, and that is why he'll be traded. If he takes the blame for his own actions, pretty soon everyone will be expected to do it, and we can't have that.

We should just DFA him. He has no place on this team. He's always running his mouth and no team in MLB would have him at secondbase.

I can't tell if that was sarcasm, but if by "running his mouth" you mean speaking his mind and being honest, then yes he is. While his play has been disappointing at times, it's refreshing to have someone who will give you his honest opinion whether you like it or not.

You were right in your original thought. It was sarcasm.

he killed our 2nd half playoff push

Really. All we needed was for our toolsy guys to catch the ball and go on about a 22-game winning streak. And Walker ruined all that. The jerk.

It appears Todd knows he's gone. He probably already did. I'll miss him.

He plays hard and takes responsibility for his actions, which is more than can be said about a lot of guys on this team or in this organization. Hendry will ship that "bad attitude" out.

I'm sure Todd heard the clock ticking before the season started.

I like Todd, but he looked awful out there. I realize it's one game, and I realize this team blows, so it's meaningless, but he looked downright bad.

And he's acknowledging that. Despite what some want to say, this isn't the way things usually go with him and he's owning up to it. He had an extra crappy day on a team having a crappy day.

Yeah, but I wonder if there'd be all this nsbb knob slobbing if, say, Neifi had done the same thing and then owned up to it.

Like that 2 error play vs the Braves?

I'd like to see the Cubs get a prospect for Walker because he does not fit into any plans the Cubs have for next year. However, many more games like last night and his value will be zero. Hendry needs to trade him fairly quickly.

What I'm trying to say is, Walker somehow got onto this NSBB manlove list where he can do no wrong, even though his OPS is near the bottom for NL secondbasemen. (11th). Aside from his obp, he really hasn't been that good this year.

I don't get the accusations that Walker is in some sort of manlove list. He's a decent player who brings something to the table so few players on the team brings, and his cost/production ratio is among the best on the squad. But he's nothing special, and hardly a cornerstone player. Assuming they get something decent for him in a trade I wouldn't bat an eye if he's traded. Given his age and career path he probably doesn't have much time left being a solid contributor.

It seems like he's gotten a free pass this year when he's been pretty bad, too (by his standards). Still, he's the best option we have, and I'll be irritated if JH just gives him away.
