Seriously, WTF happened tonight. I leave with my wife and daughter to have dinner with the Cubs leading 5-2.

You missed some of the most entertaining Cub ineptitude of the year.

He made a put out.

        x infinity.

Whatever, I don't see how you can defend him, he's not a good fielder.

Today's game not withstanding, the attacks on his defense are VASTLY overdone. VASTLY.

That's just ridiculous. He's one of the worst 2B at turning the double play. I'm tired of the argument about his fielding percentage because that doesn't tell the story. He doesn't get to most balls and, again, he usually doesn't position himself well enough to turn the DP which is crucial for his position. His reputation is well earned (and judging by the Cubs inability to move him in the offseason, other teams feel that his offense does not outweigh his defensive miscues).

NEVIN!

Walker's offense isn't that good either

Are you joking? You must be joking. He's conistetnly been one of the top 5 offensive 2B in the game over the last few years. His only knock offensively is that he struggles against lefties.

You really must be kidding. It's a joke right?

Yeah, you can make the argument for Walker, but all you're allowed to use is batting average, homers and RBIs, because all other stats mean diddly squat.

Now try and make the argument, lawl at dusty, you young whippersnapper punk.

Well, so me where you think is a top five? In what? Only your secretive selective stats?

OOOoooo, way to support yourself! With a list he's not even on, not to mention one that uses only stats from this year!

Not to mention one that has this little gem: Keep in mind batters are penalized for games missed and pitchers need to meet innings pitched criteria to make the list.

But I give you credit for trying to expand your horizons.

He is currently listed as a first baseman and he is rated 54.92. That would put him 18th for second baseman.

Even if you are the biggest Twalk fan in the world. Wouldn't you think today you would just shut up about it?

Is that aimed at me? I just think some of the argument are, well, crap.

Novoa gave up 6 runs but none were earned. However, Marshall gave up 7 runs but only 5 were earned according to Gameday and the argument could be made that if the first ball, Walker booted, was fielded cleanly to begin with, the inning wouldn't have gotten out of hand...

Would the next two batters bloops magically get caught? Oh of course, the wind would have magically shifted for Floyd's pop-fly HR, and 0 runs would have been given up.

Update:

Rich Hill - 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K

still in Iowa

still already had his shot, dude.

If they're going to keep Dusty around, they really need to call Hill up and just tell Dusty he's in the rotation the rest of the year.
