I cant stand Rush. People rave about the drummer but i dont care, i dont like the songs. Rush will not survive the press from Def Leppard, they will crumble like the little girls they are.

The Pyromania album is awesome. I remember being 10 years old and cranking that stuff out in my bedroom. My mom didnt like the pyromania song and it scared her that her little boy was jammin to this rock n roll stuff. That was sweet.

I have to say, Rush is one of my least favorite bands of all time. They are the most over-bloated, show-offy group of musicians of all time. Hey Neil, I think you need to buy 10 more drums! :roll:

Same here. Crappy dinosaur rock, I hate everything about them. As a backhanded compliment I could say that bands like Rush were largely responsible for the rise of punk rock, so in that sense you could say they made a positive contribution by showing everybody what the exact opposite of coolness is.

Yes is a band that I've heard some early punk rockers point to as a primary anti-influence.

High & Dry and Pyromania both gave me many, many more hours of enjoyment than anything Rush did, even though I realize Rush was a very influential band.

 

Put me down for Lep, based on the early stuff, which rocked.

I hate Rush. Rush epitomizes everything wrong with rock. I would vote for anyone over them.

I don't being in the minority on this one. I love Rush. They are extraordinary musicians and can all write music. While Geddy Lee will never have a great voice, you also have to realize that he became singer by default. No one else could sing well. However, if you could sing like that, while playing great bass, bass pedals and keyboards, often at the same time, maybe you could hear beyond his somewhat upper range voice. Let's talk about sycopation or better yet something in other than 3/4 or 4/4 time.

 

I have always enjoyed Rush's music to the highest degree. Even after Signals and Grace Under Pressure. Ultimately, Carress of Steel will always be in my top ten records of all time.
